Hi everyone:

I've finally got my Fusion/NDSL activated on my line yesterday.  Still waiting for the Telecom number porting to come online, as I'm currently being assigned a temporary VFX number.  The "promised" number forwarding from my old Telecom number to my temp VFX number doesn't seem to work either.  And oh, by the way, I got this all working by just ringing up Xnet Sales and not having to arrange anything with Telecom, which is great.. If only the number forwarding could work for this period...

Anyway, my setup is as follow :

ADSL --> Linksys WAG200G --> SPA2102 --> Analog Phones

I'm using the WAG200G as a router, and all my PCs are directly connected to the WAG200G (or via it's WiFi).  The SPA2102 is connected to the WAG200G on the internet side, nothing is plugged into the LAN/Ethernet side of it.

What I'd like to know is, what QoS settings should I use for the WAG200G (my router), specifically the port number and ranges that VFX uses?  I reckon I don't need QoS enabled on the SPA2102 as I'm only using it for the phone - is my assuptions correct?

Anyone here care to enlighten me?  Thanks.

I'd recommend putting the SPA in front of the WAG, so it has full control over the voice data:

ADSL --> (WAN) SPA2102 (LAN) --> (LAN) WAG200G

Also, set the WAG up as a "dumb" switch, I.E. turn off DHCP & router functions, so it acts like an access point & switch only (thus also connecting the SPA LAN to WAG LAN. The WAG WAN port is not used).

With this setup, the SPA2102 will handle all routing & IP assignment etc, and eliminates a 2nd or 3rd NAT. Also, if your ADSL has half bridge mode, use it.

Hi there:

I guess I made a "mistake" in my original quote. The WAG200G is my ADSL modem/router (I don't have a separate ADSL modem), so I can't put the SPA2102 in front of the WAG200G. And as such, I can't turn the WAG200G into a dumb switch either...And the so called "WAN" port of the WAG200G is actually the POTS/ADSL Line, thus it has to be used...

What I should have meant is this:

ADSL line --> WAG200G ADSL Modem/router --> (WAN) SPA2102 --> Analog Phones

Anyone else has any ideas how should I setup the QoS values for the WAG200G?

Thanks.

Look in WAG200 user guide, QoS section:

Ah, sorry, should have looked up you model, then I would have worked that out.

Have a look for the QoS settings in the router. There are some pre-configured rules, change the ones for Web & email etc to low priority. Create some custom rules and set to high priority for these ports: 8060, 8061, 5060 (I think these are the main VFX ports used, but check with Xnet).

No worries about this.. :)

Thanks for this.  The port numbers are what i'm actually after.  I'll probably email Xnet tech support just to confirm their port numbers.

Cheers! :)
