Hello all,

I was wondering whether it would be possible to have a VFX connection with all chargable calls blocked, so that it could only call local numbers. The reason why, is that I'm looking at a potential flatting situation and while I make a lot of chargable calls on my Telecom landline (capped calls rock), I would prefer that I don't leave that option open for others while providing basic landline service.

If it isn't - I may try the other way around (Telecom landline charged calls barred, VFX for private calls) in that case.

I just had a look thru all the Outgoing Call Control options (of which there are many) including the new "Advanced" features which haven't yet been released.

At this stage, it doesn't appear possible to do what you want, although Phil may have something up his sleeve that I don't know about.

cokemaster: If it isn't - I may try the other way around (Telecom landline charged calls barred, VFX for private calls) in that case.

I think this would be your best option, because:

- A Toll Bar is easy to arrange with Telecom.
- You could also use Telecom Call Track to bar others from making toll calls, while still retaining the ability to make Capped Calls yourself.

Calltrack did occur to me, but one possibility calltrack is that its supposedly not compatible with the 0161 VoIP service. Will need to look into this/test this when/if the situation arises.

Yes, I think you're right there. At the time we were using it, we had various Homestay students, each with their own PIN. Unknown to any of them, we also had Coded Access Tolls via Clear. When I dialled 050, Call Track never asked me for a PIN.

So, I suspect the same rules would apply to 0161.

Of course the other thing with VFX you got to remember too is that you can dial any number within your area code whether it is a local call or not. I can dial other parts of Taranaki here and not have to dial 06 but it still gets charged as a toll call to those other areas. So I dont know how that would work for your situation unless as Grant says Phill knows of something that would remedy that.

I called 123 and they said that Calltrack should work with 0161 - we'll have to see....

Is there a way to check what chargable calls you have made on VFX at any time online? Just want to check how long they have been etc.

Only once your on-line bill is released for the month. This usually happens on about the 5th businesss day of each month.

However, Maverick has been hinting that the all-singing all-dancing billing system upgrade will have this function when it is released Real Soon Now
