Hi

I want to find out what is the current lead time to get a cable install done?

My parents just moved into a house that has cable in the area and there is a cable box on the outside of the home, however calling Vodafone they first told them you do not have cable in you are. but after insisting they found out there is cable, now they telling them they have to wait a month to get it installed?

When I got my cable installed about a year ago it was within two weeks, and that include putting a cable to the house.

They can get ADSL active within two weeks why not cable if there is a cable already to the property.

I would hate to call, stay on hold for hours and talk to another person just to tell me there is no cable in the area.

EDIT: Area is Newland, Wellington

Thanks

C

In my case it took less than a week (3 years ago with an existing cable connection in Island Bay).

You don't specify where your own cable connection is, but presumably you are aware of ongoing current problems with cable (Krapi cable congestion).

Is fibre an option for your parents?

Newlands was due to have fibre by 2016.

Hi.

I live across the road from my parents new house.

No fiber is no available yet. Would love to move to fiber.

So would the issues in Kapit delay any new installs.

Back in 2013, UFB was promised for "some areas in" Newlands by June 2016.

Presumably you have checked the Chorus Broadband Capability Map.

I don't imagine that "new" cable installs would be effected by the congestion issue.

Try not to sign any contracts longer that 12 months - fibre could be close.

I moved house from Strathmore to Miramar at the start of Feb.
I contacted Vodafone in mid Jan to book the move and only got connected on the 19th.

From what I've been told, it's due to tech availability.

Note: it's a cable to cable move.

HI,

I have checked the chorus site, and we are only due to get Fiber by Jun/Jul 17 (Griffiths Grove, Newlands)

I know it was planned for 2016, but got updated late last year.

I may just try and call again. really frustrating. :(

Unless you want to stay with Vodafone in which case it will not make a difference as you are in a cable zone obviously.

There aren't that many/any issues in Kapiti as far as I know now - it seems mostly isolated to those unfortunate people in Island Bay...

Sounds like that maybe the time frames. Silk see if they can give them ADSL until they can get the cable install done
