Asked to have my Vodafone account disconnected a little while ago now as I've switched to another provider. Everything appeared to have happened as my logon on the Vodafone website is now not working.


I received an email recently however:




We previously upgraded you to a new broadband plan, which was specially discounted to the price of your old plan.


Since then, you no longer have the plan we upgraded you to and your special discount is no longer applicable so has been removed.


This email's just to let you know that your discount was removed on 28-Mar-2016



The team at Vodafone




So got in contact via the website and was advised to call the retention team, anyway in the end tried contacting them but no joy via phone. Is there away of closing the account off as I can not sit on the phone during the day for long?

@Lurch As you have advised it sounds like it is disconnected and also a discount was removed maybe an on-account mobile number attached to the fixed line account?

Edit: Calling during business to confirm the account is closed off should not be more than a few minute wait

Thanks for the reply John. After spending 30-40 minutes waiting on hold a couple of times I contacted Mike Hales via Vodafone communities who said he would look into it.


I'm not sure why they can't just have a cancel account option, I'm also puzzled as to why my original request has only partially worked and now appears to have disappeared. :-)


Can't logon anywhere at Vodafone anymore to check anything either.

I think if they had an option like that it would cause all manner of problems - imagine if someone got your login info and logged in and cancelled your account? Spark doesn't have this either.

Bigpipe was really easy, one email done. Vodafone don't want you to leave, well thats the impression I get.


But wont be paying for another month, so hopefully it gets sorted.

Fail safes can be put in place i.e. confirmation email/phone call/DOB check/other ids etc etc


The same could be said about upgrading and downgrading your account if someone hacks it. 


I think it's a good idea, but anyway.
