About an hour ago I decided to check my emails on the VF website, using my PC at work. I got an odd error message that told there was no backend server available, and that my connection had timed out.

Sigh! Possibly the system at work......

Came home, and had another try - same result. Had another 2 tries - same result!

Rang VF Customer Service, and after a surprisingly short wait, spoke to a nice man (sounded like he was in Cairo or somewhere) who told me "VF is doing a website upgrade, and this is generating errors on the website. The upgrade has been going on for a couple of days, and will take another day to complete." About. Approximately.

Has anyone else had problems accessing stuff on the VF website?? Luckily, I can download abd read emails on my smartphone, but were that not the case, I'd be email-less!

Sigh again!!

George

Are you trying to access the e-mail pages from My Vodafone?

It works for me. Probably another case of CSRs not knowing what's going on...

I get exactly the same error when trying to log into Vodafone webmail: no backend server....

Imap still seems to be working fine though....

Cheers, Matt.

That's odd, Mauricio. I've logged in at the usual log-in page, and arrived at the multi-coloured My Vodafone page. If I then scroll down and click the Vodafone Email link, I end up with the "no backend server" reply.

Now I could make some very rude remarks about "backend servers", but this is a Family Forum, so I'll restrain my evil wit!!

My email account is imap - would that make any difference, I wonder?

IMAP shouldn't have anything to do with it as that is essentially a method of accessing the mailbox. It looks like the web front end can't talk to the mailbox at the moment.... Strange that Mauricio's is working... Hmmm, I sense a conspiracy theory coming on....

I just tried again following the steps you described and again I can access the mailbox...

I just got the same error message.  Please call the Vodafone Mail Support Line on 0800 921 021 to log the fault and have the job sent to the appropriate team.

Meanwhile, please go to www.vodafonemail.co.nz to access your email.  You will need your imap/pop password.

There have been problems for the last six days. I was promised it would be up and running on 23/2/08. That will eight days after peopl found out they couldn't even get their free $10 top up. It's appalling.
