I need some urgent assistance as I am really confused now.

I have internet and landline through Vodafone, the fibre inside job is going to be completed on Friday this week, but from what I have read it seems like I have to use the router povided by Vodafone to keep the phone line working. Is that the case?

I simply do not want to use Vodafone's router but my own R7000 while my landline can still work like usual. The tech at Vodafone Fibre team told me to change my order, but once transferred to whoever at the other end of the line does not understand what I am wanting to do (to use fibre for internet and copper for landline), and the Chorus tech does not speak much English.

Can someone please point me to the right direction, thanks in advance.

a default installation over fibre for Vodafone use the RGW for phone rather than the phone ports on the ONT. All isps do this differently, Spark for example will provide phone from the ONT leaving you to use whatever hardware you wish.

There is a chance you could stick the Vodafone router behind your R7000, This is often a handy fix on many other isps I have not tried to see if it would work with Vodafone gear however.

Recommend you call Vodafones fibre team, Check what exactly you have ordered. Specify you wish to still have your phoneline over copper and make sure that is the case if you wish. You may find they end up charging you for a copper phoneline ontop of your Naked fibre installation in this case.

What if I bridge the Vodafone router and enable DHCP on my R7000? This is not the ideal situation for me as I'll have so many hardwares to run in the cabinet.

I actually called the Fibre team but they just keep transferring me from one person to the other. I told them to change my order so that I can still have my phone line over copper. But they have no idea what I am talkin about, I am really stuck .

Vodafone tech support can be a pain to get through to, Keep trying.. maybe seek to speak to a higher up (means calling when they would actually be in too) You will likely have better luck there.

If you bridge your R7000 to the Vodafone router, you will have double nat along with the possibly weaker device handling the routing.

Are you fully aware that to use fibre for UFB and copper for landline you'll be paying another $50ish per month for your services? I'm not even sure if Vodafone support standalone voice services over copper as a single item, you might have to move your landline to somebody like Spark to get this.

Ya I think now I get it. The fibre package comes with landline through fibre cable, but prior to this I have no idea because it is not mentioned anywhere on the website clearly.

In order to use my R7000 I'll need to do some bridging, n things like that. I'll give it a go.
