Hi there.

I am trying to setup IMAP for a clear.net.nz address for a friend. They have the Mail+ service.

All settings appear correct. With username and password correct, they work fine for POP and will log into IMAP server just not the outgoing server.

imap.clear.net.nz (143, noSSL)

smtp.clear.net.nz (25, no SSL and same authentication as incoming)

I am unable to complete setup and I believe this may be because I do not use Clear as my ISP however this seems unusual as the reason for using IMAP will be for mobile use.

Any help would be appreciated, changing ISP is not an option.

Cannot connect, probably because port 25 is blocked on your current internet connection.

It is generally considered very bad to be using non SSL to access your emails from anywhere outside your own network. Hop on an open wifi even inadvertantly and you are broadcasting your email address and password to access it to anyone that happens to be listening.

If you must access this address from elsewhere and there is no SSL support and port other than 25 provided by the legacy clear net mail servers then you are going to have a bad time.
