No problems for NZ but international speeds seem pretty slow right now. Getting about 30KB/S on Planetmirror.com and here's a speedtest:

Lately there has been a number of reports about this. Myself, I get over 7Mbps national but only 1.2Mbps international. It is not a line fault, so no use calling XNet. It is either their international connection or their equipment. Maybe this time one of the XNet staff will post a reply as to what is happening.

There has been reports that the international bandwidth recovers at exactly 2:00 in the morning, as if there is traffic shaping.

My peek speeds are so consistantly slow, in such a uniform pattern that if it wasn't for speeds being 50kBps rather than 7kBps, I'd say I'd been prematurely capped.

I've noticed my speeds start off at >170kBps (my max is currently 250kBps), and drop down to 30-50kBps. This happens from any international server I've tried to download from. Start fast, then slow down.

EDIT: Just after saying that, I managed 70kBps off Rapidshare. Yet I couldn't excees 40 downloading PHP.

Neil: It is not a line fault, so no use calling XNet. It is either their international connection or their equipment.

If it's their equipment, then it's certainly Xnet who should be called. Unless you expect them to ignore your observations, why would it be useless calling them?

*sigh* yeah Xnet is AGAIN having international speed issues at peak times.

I too am feeling that International speed is very slow.Use to get 300k at least on sendspace now getting 35k download....>,<

on the broad band section of the threads people are stating that they are having problems with orcon and a couple of other ISP's. who knows,

It's not as fast as Cokemaster's hotted-up link through Xtra ADSL2+, but I've got no complaints about it.

3.3Mbps to LA is pretty damn good if you ask me

It's after 2AM, and for the first time in at least two weeks I was able to download a file from a US server at a sustained speed of over 70kBps.

Xnet seem to be limiting single connections to about 30KB/s for international D/L at peak times.. :(

Using a download manager still gets good results though. But not all servers support them.

Also because of this online video streaming (from the likes of youtube etc) are crap.

One gets superb national speeds here however.

Maverick, whats the official response to these comments?

I joined Xnet only some months ago, and it was great, but in the last month my connection has become rubbish...
I am speaking of internet browsing...not downloading.

You guys are pretty straight up and honest to what I have seen in the past, can you give an explanation here please?

If my connection does not improve substantially some time soon, without an adequate reason for the poor service...I guess I will be changing ISP again...
