So, noticed the other day checking on gist that 700mhz had been added to the cell tower in the township, although i had not actually noticed 4G signal until today from that tower.
Will need to do plenty more drivebys to really make a fair judgement on it, but ill be making a point of recording data just to see how it ends up like. 700mhz coverage seems to be slightly improved as one would expect. Especially with the windy tree covered roads.
Made a very quick detour on the way home, stopped off at our poor little exchange for a quick speedtest.
gps location of the tower itself is obviously off on the map but distance is within the margin of error, i would have put myself a few more meters away.
for quite a wet day and only one band of 15mhz LTE, not bad at all.
I live a bit deeper into waitakere where im serviced by Waitatarua tower so curious if any vodafone folk around here have details on when 700mhz would be hitting that tower?
The last question i have, being all of a stone-throw away from the bethells beach tower why 1800mhz over 700? is 700 simply later on the plans? ild assume it has alot todo with the directional positioning of the tower, Jonkers land really was a pretty good target point for looking over the valley.
Microwave backhaul for that tower i assume?
Should have dug some information out of the jonkers when they were around the other day, but it totally slipped my mind!
