Howdy,

Quite keen to get one of these MySky boxes.  We currently have Saturn cable through Telstra, but figure the main PPV channels are Sky so should be good??? Right???

If we are good to go:
a. is the price you pay set?
b. does anyone know if a new model is about to be released?

Cheers
Daza

A MySky box can only be used with Sky. It will not work on TelstraClear.

As per my other blogs, there is no TCL PVR solution, the only way you can get mysky functionality is to buy an Irdeto capible Cable receiver such as Dreambox DM500C or DM600PVR, and then that will give you those features. However to connect such a box is against TCL's T&C's... but this is what I do at home.  The DM600PVR is the one to go for IMHO, it's the size of 3 dvd cases stacked ontop of each other, you can put a 2.5" harddisk in it.  And better than a mysky, you can extract the recordings out and burn them to a DVD, plus lots of other fun things.

The DM600PVR's are ~$550AUS off the official DM distributor in Aus.  I can PM you his e-mail address (don't like having e-mail addresses in public forums as then he will get spammed!).  The clone boxes are $250US out of china (but don't have the rear cable faceplace, so look like a dogs breakfast on the rear).  the DM500C's which don't have a HD are ~$150AUS off eBay or Austech.  The only thing you need extra is a 2.5" PIDE Harddisk (not SATA).  But those are sub $200 in NZ for a 250GB.  You have a PM in your mailbox.
