I currently have my VFX line set up with asterisk, and today started migrating to a new server. I am using *exactly* the same config on the new server as on the old one (in fact I have copied /etc/asterisk/* verbatim), however the new server refuses to register with VFX, and simply gets stuck on '180 Request Sent'.

The VFX line has been removed from the old server's config and has been de-registered, so it can't be a conflict between the two.

Is the VFX service IP-locked to one particular asterisk server? If so, how can I get this IP changed?

Thanks. Is there any way to tell what your end is seeing? I don't want to bug the helpdesk about it, as I'm very aware that asterisk is an unsupported platform. If I have to I can revert to the old server, although obviously I'd rather avoid that.

How on earth did you manage to get my number? I have never disclosed it to anyone on these forums, and my name here certainly doesn't match my WxC user account.

That said, if your end isn't seeing anything then I'd better go have a moan to the provider who hosts my server - as the config is identical, this means they're probably firewalling something :(.

Actually never mind - I just realised that as.wxcnz.net doesn't exist in DNS and needs to be in hosts. That was the cause of my problem, it now works fine :).

I'm still very curious as to how you got hold of my number though...

Magic Cool

......pretty simple your name matches an account which matches a VFX asterisk account

You full name is in your GeekZone profile.  My work also once traced me that way, so did WxC when I just joined.  With TradeMe I often tell people where they live before they tell me, as you can often get the name from the e-mail address and then search the Whitepages.  Once I got hold of a guy trying to "stiff" me on a trade.

Interesting - very convenient though. I guess I wasn't aware that Geekzone posted your full name publicly.

Thanks for the help :-)

You can edit your public profile to say whatever you want it to, but we are now getting way off topic.
