I see Vodafone have launched Smart Turbo 7 in the same price bracket as the Smart Prime 6 that they have recently discontinued.
Specs don't appear to have changed much except for a change to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Used to be a 720 x 1280 screen. New one is only 480*854
Used to be a 1.3ghz quad, now only a 1ghz quad.
Used to be a 8mp main camera, now only a 5mp main camera.
Used to be 2540mAh battery, now only 2000mAh.
Actually I don't think this replaces the smart prime 6, but the old smart turbo.

Dairyxox: Lots of spec drops compared to the Smart Prime...disappointing Used to be a 720 x 1280 screen. New one is only 480*854 Used to be a 1.3ghz quad, now only a 1ghz quad. Yep, definitely isn't the Smart Prime replacement. Have a look at the voda UK site, there is a new Smart Prime 7 which looks nice, but if the turbo is priced at Smart Prime 6 levels, and the Smart Ultra 7 has also gotten $50 more expensive, I'm guessing (if/when) Voda NZ get the Smart Prime 7, it'll be ~$200
Here are the local prices:
The two flagship smartphones are the Vodafone Smart Turbo 7 and Vodafone Smart Ultra 7. Smart Turbo 7 – 4G capable, 5” touchscreen, an 8MP camera, 2MP selfie camera and a large 2000mAh battery Smart Ultra 7, the most powerful of the Smart 7 range - 4G capable, 5.5” full HD 1080p touchscreen, comes with a 13MP camera (incl. flash), a 5MP selfie camera and a 1.8 GHz Octa core processor

I'd love a platinum 7 but at $699 the bang for buck proposition is just not quite there imho

freitasm: Compare that to higher priced Samsung, Huawei and it may be.
Based on history the Galaxy S6 must be due to drop soon so will get uncomfortably close to the platinum price, IIRC Platinum is only running a 600 series snapdragon vs 800 series in S6 so one will outperform the other. Its a shame as the Platinum is almost nexus levels of pure android goodness

Sadly the Smart Ultra 7 doesn't seem like much of an improvement over the Ultra 6 - certainly not enough to make me want to upgrade
Reviews seem to agree too.

The snapdragon 652 in the platinum (alcatel idol 4s) would be better than the 810 from last year that over heats and drains battery.
I think day to day the 652 would be similar to the 820 but just doesn't have it when it comes to 3d gaming.
Plus the platinum has a 3000mah battery vs 2550 on the s6 (which people find lacking).
Eyes opened, many thanks...

http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/pay-as-you-go/vodafone-smart-ultra-7-payg/sku90568 has the Vodafone Smart ultra 7 on Pay as you go for £135, maybe locked?
There are options for the Vodafone Smart platinum 7 with a "Smart VR" headset too, which I think was £295 outright, that'd be $527NZ. Will be interesting to see what happens with the pricing in New Zealand.
Edit: was getting confused between the models. More distinct naming or more caffeine required.
