Hi,

I just signed up for VFX account and specified that I have a WAG54GP2 which I do and use with my asterisk system.
When signing up I forgot to mention that I will be using asterisk, I now see after comments here that it would appear one has to request asterisk access, is this correct?

When using Asterisk, does one still get QOS for the phone calls or is this function lost;  Idont appear to be having any issues at current with my asterisk setup.

Another thing, I've forgotten the  "Voice Admin" password in my WAG54GP2, last time I had to do a factory default reset to fix this, however from the sounds of things, can XNET do this now?

Cheers
Barry Murphy from Albany (for the techs that may choose to answer :)

Yes all you need to do is tell us you want to use asterisk, they are setup completely differently so you we need to know.

QOS is within our network but the WAH has it's own inbuilt QOS if you put your Asterisk behind a router you have to set your own QOS bty port of IP within your own network, we can't control that I'm afraid Wink

Depends on the voice side, if the box was configured for us it will be setup to talk back to our provisioning service so we can provision the device, if its been done by someone else I would probably expect our link not to be setup so you would have top factory reset it if you wanted to use that with us.

Heya,

Managed to sort out the WAG router, remembered the password :)

With regards to the ASTERISK box, it will be my work PBX which is hosted within our datacentre, from there my WAG will have 2 lines going to my asterisk box.

So...

|WXCH - Voip| -- |Orcon DC asterisk| -- |Xnet DSL| -- |WAG device|

Could you please change me request from WAG device to Asterisk, username breakproperties

Many thanks
Barry Murphy

sorry you will have to do that yourself I don't deal in that area Wink there are some office systems that I just want to keep away from and the sales signup one is one of those, I would probably get it wrong,

but a first a couple of questions,

you said 2 lines going from your WAG ?, are you talking about putting the pots line from the wag into the Asterisk box  or are you connecting the Asterisk box directly ?

If you run VFX VoIP settings inside your router, and then run telephone cables to your Asterisk box, you will not need to change to "asterisk" with VFX.

If you want to enter VFX settings into the Asterisk config directly (i.e. SIP trunks in Asterisk), then you WILL need to ask to be set up on Asterisk.

ok, will contact them when I know its all working or maybe tomorrow :)

The vfx will term via SIP to asterisk in a DC, then 2 extensions off that are already terminating to my home WAG device.
I already have a few italk numbers work related and these forward to these extensions already, so the idea is to have this VFX number just forward to both extensions at home.

Thnx again.

Hey guys,

My asterisk is all working for inbound calls, however for outbound calls it doesnt appear to be working, I used a very simiar config to my italk numbers, but i get these errors:

-- Executing Dial("SIP/1020-b7142678", "SIP/*62@as.wxcnz.net") in new stack
-- Called *62@as.wxcnz.net
-- Got SIP response 604 "Does Not Exist Anywhere" back from 58.28.20.150
== No one is available to answer at this time (1:0/0/0)
-- Executing SetCDRUserField("SIP/1020-b7131db8", "Auckland| NZ") in new stack
-- Executing Dial("SIP/1020-b7131db8", "SIP/099742910@as.wxcnz.net|60") in new stack
-- Called 099742910@as.wxcnz.net
-- Got SIP response 604 "Does Not Exist Anywhere" back from 58.28.20.150
== No one is available to answer at this time (1:0/0/0)
-- Executing Congestion("SIP/1020-b7131db8", "") in new stack
== Spawn extension (home, 099742910, 3) exited non-zero on 'SIP/1020-b7131db8'

Config in asterisk as follows:
[vfx]
type=peer
fromdomain=as.wxcnz.net
fromuser=XXX; this is your VFX Number without the leading 0 i.e. 9950XXXX
host=as.wxcnz.net
insecure=invite,port
canreinvite=no
nat=no
secret=XXX
username=XXX
disallow=all
allow=g729
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw
qualify=yes
context=home

Local context contains the following for outbound:
exten => _XXXXXXX,1,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@as.wxcnz.net,60) ;Auckland

exten => _09.,1,SetCDRUserField(Auckland, NZ)
exten => _09.,2,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@as.wxcnz.net,60) ;Auckland
exten => _09.,3,Congestion

There is obviously more in my contexts but this is all that should be required to make an outbound?

hopefully this is the last thing...
When making a call on an analogue phone connected to (WAG) dsl router, the call takes 10 seconds from digit input to actually sending the number to asterisk.

Becuase I pre-enter the digits in the phone and press call, it brings up dialtone, pushs the number, has silence for 10 seconds then actually rings. There is no delay at the asterisk box as the digits are only receivied 10 seconds later, so this leads me to believe the dialplan may be wrong on the WAG router or perhaps a timer is wrong, any suggestions?

thanks
barry

Press # after the last digit and it should be sent immediately Smile

It is in your in dial plan, if you make a dial plan that matches digits dialed it will send the call straight away, also check your short and long interdigit timers you will find the 10 second timer there

I have the default dialplan of
(*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

What do XNET replace this with; I'd imagine what ever you guys use would work for me as I have stock standard NZ dialplan setup in asterisk.

We replace it with our own one Wink, but your dial plan will need work and your interdigit timers will have a lot to do with your delay, so you will need to work out your dialplan based around your astersisk setting and sorry we don't give out our dialplans Sealed. to many people tend to watch what we do and how we do it.
