OK, Im really stumped here. Ive got an imported Motorola V6 Maxx, and its got the Hutchinson 3G logos all over it like the following
http://www.sonyericsson.com/developerimages/3logoweb.gif

I have looked on vodafone, and on motorolas site, and I dont see any way to upgrade the firmware to vodafone. Not only this, but I dont see any way I can upgrade my phones firmware without picking one of these from the very short list of carriers on motorolas site
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdateSelect.asp?country=USA&language=ENS

Am I missing something here? I Have a feeling  (and I really hope) that I am

Cheers

That would be because vodafone NZ dont have NZ firmware for download.  More to the point; is the phone broken?? (dont upgrade/change firmware unless your machines broken)

well, I wouldnt say broken, but it does occasionally have the usual motorola razr issues which seem to be quite common, and sometimes been fixed with a firmware upgrade.
Invalid battery
Please insert sim card
unable to charge

And, i really like the red vodafone theme, over the hutchinson blue one. It doesnt say import all over it if it says vodafone 3G rather than something else. Nothing major, just thought it may be an easy fix
Thanks for your time

If you take it to a Vodafone store they will overwrite the software for you but it does cost ($50 from memory) and you'll have to check what that will do to your contacts/downloaded software etc first. Anyone know what it'll do?

Vodafone doesn't support parallel imported mobiles in general.

Cheers

Probably best to save your contacts to your sim card first when overwrite the firmware

No harm done to your mobile but I only overwrite the firmware for my nokia mobiles.I don't think it'll cause any harm to your mobile and you'll still be able to use it like normal

Have a look at:

www.modmymoto.com

If you are willing to take an hour or so downloading a few programs and a "monster pack" you can update the firmware yourself, won't cost you anything.

The benefit of doing this is that the packs from this site include the latest firmware plus can offer benefits over the standard vodafone firmware. There is also an option to leave the firmware and just flash the operator logo's etc. If you are dead set on having vodafone NZ icons etc you may have to go to a vodafone store as suggested above, if you want something original or more pleasing to the eye do it yourself.

I was just looking, and not only do I have the "3" networks logo when I boot, shut down and on the external screen (aswell as drawn on the outside of the case), I also have the web browser, Planet 3. Is there any way I can change this to just opera, so it will not have the logos everywhere?

I read up about it before, and am just wondering. Is there any standar moto firmware which does not have any stupid brand names all over it?

You should be able to get the generic Motorola firmware from the site I mentioned above. it will have the original moto icons, startup screen etc that Motorola produced.
