i was a telstra clear customer and despite all the complaints i read about them - i personally never had a problem with them.  i was gutted when they dumped me onto vodafone.  :(

since i've been with vodafone the crap is just never ending.

first with sky services, updating, upgrading, downgrading wateva ... you could never get through to vodafone and i had to ring sky themselves for anything i needed.  not surprising they completely understood and were happy to help; they'd obviously heard it all before.

then trying to get sky dis-continued.  it took months! literally. i mean ... how hard is this to understand ... "can you please cut my sky off; i no longer require it"?  well obviously i was speaking in chinese because it took 4 months of phone calls and emails to get them to cut it off.  every time they said no worries, we'll cut it off.  and every time they didn't.  it took a last final email pretty much telling them they could blow me if they thought i was going to pay another cent for sky services. ugh!

now they only charge me for sky movies despite all the sky gear got picked up by a rep a weeks ago.  i know right? lol.  there's another hour on the phone each month getting them to take the sky movie charges off.

then there's the fibre install.  at first there was no communication about what was happening and when it was happening and then there was weekly email updates saying the same damned thing, "blah blah blah blah blah ... ".

in the meantime i've decided to move to christchurch and my new address doesn't get fibre.  that's quite ok with me because i'm so over it, lol.

so i call vodafone and explain to them i'm moving and to cancel the fibre install.  they say fine but obviously because it's vodafone, it took a few more phone calls back and fourth to get through to them that yes, i'm moving, cancel that fibre order.  i finally got that sorted a couple of weeks ago ... or did i?

this morning they call again asking if i have a fibre cancellation pending and i'm thinking, "nooooooooooooooo ... this is sorted already! wth!?"  but apparently not and add to that ... my phone and broadband services at my new address aren't going to go as smoothly as initially promised.

of course not.  and i was a freaking idiot of the greatest proportions to think it would.  grrr @ me!

so i'm done.  i am soooooooooooo done.  200 bucks is cheap to never have to deal with them again!

*sigh*

happy now i've made that decision though. :)  thanks for letting me rant.

edited to add: i got so invested in my rant i forgot to ask my question.  which isp are giving good deals and reliable service at the moment?  trust power is out because i'm staying with contact energy who i'd highly and happily recommend to anyone.

If you don't need a landline, BigPipe are the best hands down.

Proper landline or is VOIP OK? The modem bigpipe sells includes an ATA, so if you're happy to do some basic setup yourself, I'd probably still recommend Bigpipe along with 2talk for VOIP.

EDIT: I should say I've also been very very happy with 2degrees. The reason I recommend bigpipe over them just comes down to pricing...  though if you have a 2degrees monthly mobile with them, the discount makes them more competitive.

so i just talked to vodafone retention's to let them know i won't be needing their services in christchurch.

i had to give a bit of an explanation and he found the sky movies story incredible.  (that's because it is mate ... why do you think i'm leaving, lolz)

but he was all good.  the thing is ... i know it's no one individuals fault at vodafone when things get messed up but, there's something massively wrong with their communication systems.  i can also tell with all my dealings with them they're trying hard to fix it.  but it's not working which is unfortunate for them.

I've been happy with 2Degrees

(Admittedly it was snap when I was on ASDL - I just got UFB installed and 2 days later it was magically 2D)

Good to deal with on the couple of times I've rung them and I like the free Fritzbox.

It's the Modem\Router\ATA 2Degrees supply - very good little unit if you want an all in one device to fulfill those functions.

it looks like i have a bit of research to do.  aww man ... i would have stayed with vodafone if they didn't practically "push" me out the door, lol.

why? ... why? why? why? i paid my bill on time, everytime, lol!

actually here's a deal vodafone which is quite cheeky but if you don't ask you don't get right?

my bank kept texting and emailing me with loan offers so i asked them for 15 thousand dollars to shut them up.  but it didn't shut them up and they gave me 15 thousand dollars.

ok, not a problem. i had fun spending that.  but now ... they're texting and emailing me with more loan offers. next time i'll ask them for a million dollars and that'll either shut them up for sure or i'll be rolling in dough ... woohoo.  ;)

so here's the deal:

i need an assurance you'll stop charging me for sky movies and every time you do and i have to call you - you'll not only wipe the movie charges but my whole bill for that month.

i need an assurance you'll stop calling me about fibre.  it's cancelled ... there's nothing more i can do or tell you from my end.

i would like, unlimited internet at my new address for $79 per month + the other applicable charges.
i don't want a contract.
i want my free calling numbers to stay the same.
i want this set up sooner rather than later.  i gave plenty of notice of this move and the place i'm moving to is occupied.  there's someone home every monday and tuesday ... just go in and do it.

these are my terms.  do you still want my account number?  :)

I like your attitude Raine :)

Even though I can tell you've had a guts-full, you can still laugh about it.
