Yeehah, I'm coming at you at the speed of light. Sort of.

I was told there would be a small delay before I would get full speed 100/20 (currently about 30/15), and a dial tone on the phone.

I should have asked for a definition of  "small delay".

Its been 3 hours, is it time to start making a fuss?

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

  • you have reset your modem and router
  • your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing - you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap
  • your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing
  • you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

  • Your ISP and plan
  • Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)
  • Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)
  • Your general location (or street)
  • If you are rural or urban
  • If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin
  • If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service
  • If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

I ordered 100/20 and got around 90/20 at first. I was told that it could take up to 24 hours to go to full speed, and since the following day it's consistently been 100/20.

Ours was instant the second the tech connected everything he made sure it was working before he left. We quickly identified however that VF had put the order through for the 30/10 rather than 100/20 so it took about a week to sort that mess out. Not sure where you got 30/15 from but it sounds like you could be in a similar position

Same here. There was a 30/10 order instead of 100/20. Vodafone took a while to sort but got there. Call Vodafone. How's your concrete? For marital bliss I hope it is unscathed....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

The copper duct was completely unusable, a break behind the retaining wall somewhere, so the concrete is intact.

We ended up doing a 100m micro-trench around the outside of the drive and came in through the dining room wall.

Not pretty but it was the only option left.

My interwebs are now running at 100/20 but the phone is still down.

I'm wondering if "the guy" wired it correctly. He just unplugged the ADSL from the old router and plugged it into the phone port on the new one.

Funny, mine was exactly the same! The next day it was 100/20 (and it's been like that ever since).

Called VF this morning, someone in ChCh answered which was nice. Apparently the weather is evil down there today.

Turns out the wrong router SN was registered to my connection.

They did something their end, then I had to stick a pin in the back of the router for 30 secs.

Factory reset. So thrilled I did all that setup work yesterday with SSID changes and port forwarding.

End result, the phone is now working, but I am back to 30/10 on the data.

So after 45 minutes I'm not sure if I am winning or not.

in your case, doesnt necessarily hold true for others.

It should be full speed from the get go

I can now answer another question : how good am I at maths? = rubbish.

It took 30 hours.

But yes, from the get go would have been nice, though it seems I am not alone in it taking longer than that.
