Sunday we had this big outage on broadband services.
As far as I am concerned I got back my ADSL line sunday evening.
However since then my VFX line is not working anymore Frown. I can't make any inbound or outbound call.
I know a few people tried to call me because I receive call notifications by email, but my phone never rings.
If I try to call, I hear nothing.
I contacted the Xnet support by email monday-tuesday but just got a ticket and no answer to this problem. Not even a direction.
I am still stuck with no phone at home and it is a big issue.
Last thing, I have a WAG54GP2 and all lights are green, the configuration looks correct, and by the way I didn't change a thing to this router since sunday.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks,

Richard

And this may sound silly, but you tried unplugging your ATA device, waiting a couple of minutes and then plugging it again?

Hi Richard,

Yes your line is registerted and we see 4 calls that went to your device yesterday all looks fine, they all rang out and went to VM by the looks of it, so it may be a ringer / phone issue, so to check

1. Can you make out bound calls ?
2. Can you try ringing your phone, even if it dosn't ring pick it up to see if the call is there
3. Silly question I know but any chance the ringer is turned off or on low , question 2 will see this.
4. If you had another phone and cable could you try this as well, (will rule out a Phone / Cable problem)

Hi maverick,

Thanks for helping.
1. I can't make out bound calls. I tried 082210, a friend VFX number, a Vodafone mobile...
2. The phone doesn't ring, I get a call notify email though. I pick up the home phone and hear nothing. The call went to the voicemail.
3. The ringer is on.
4. I don't have another phone and cable right now but I will borrow one today to test.

I come back to you after the test with the other phone/cable.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

All thinks look good here for the 2 inbound calls from the mobile to your line, we did not see any outbound, but I would say you don'y even have dial tone when you pick up the phone, so here lies the problem,

One more for you to check please is the line plugged into the correct port on the router i.e Line 1 ?
If so then the issue will be either the cable / phone or possibly a faulty port on the unit ?

Hi maverick,

Ok it seems it works again.
What I did:
- changed the phone, tried after a WAG power cycle, and was not working.
- changed the phone and the cable, tried after a WAG power cycle, and was still not working.
- changed the phone, the cable and the port (plug to line 2), tried after a WAG power cycle, and it worked again Laughing !!!

Not sure what happened. I hope my port 1 on the WAG is not dead.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,

Richard
