New topic for users that have signed up for a new vodafone plan and have been cut off over the weekend.

My situation: I was on a 100/10 plan, rang up on Thursday to change to a new 200/20 plan, had a great experience with Vodafone over the phone.  Faster speeds, less money so I was happy.   Downer rang to book in install on Monday shortly after I ordered new service.

Then last night some time (probably midnight) I was cut off.

This morning I have reset everything, I have a Cisco modem and all lights are on.

Tried setting my WAN interface to tagged VLAN 10 to see if this fixed it... (didn't)   Tried changing to DHCP from static as well.. didn't make a difference.

The offer of Vodafone mobile data is useless to me as none of us have Vodafone phones..

I pity the poor helpdesk person that is going to get the call from my wife shortly!!!

This is soooo Vodafail.

But seriously guys...you should demand compensation as this is a shocking way to conduct business.

Will they never learn??

Apparently 2nd level support is creating a temporary profile for me - wait five minutes and plug modem back in was the advice... but it didn't work probably because my IP address has changed - will wait for them to call back

My second call was met with outright refusal to attempt to escalate it as "that team doesn't work weekends". If i had all weekend to sit around calling various numbers to attempt a resolution I would but I actually have things to do which means I'm not home during "business hours".

Go purchase a $5 sim? and have the security turned off, then change the SSID to Spark WIFI and hand it out like candy.

Yeah I have same issue this morning. My alert emails came in right after midnight of the WAN down. My gigabit install is due Monday afternoon - talking with Vodafone and via Level 2 they say they have restored my old IP in only 10mins of talking - but took 20-30mins to be active again.

Also talked to friends at Downers and yes the tech's are installing Gigabit as dynamic IP in the 10.32.x.x range. (as already noted on forums) I'm shocked that just 2 weeks ago I filled in the keep my static IP form on the Vodafone site.  Epic fail this Vodafone.

The Downer techs can make these connections static if Vodafone pass the details over.

I personally will cancel 1gbit if I cant not have a static IP. Doubling NAT'g is just death for a premium connection. Be talking further with them on Monday morning. (also tagging DHCP is dumb router config - I feel they should be offering all Gigabit connections with static and anything below is opt-in)

I'm confused by your comment about double NAT; DHCP has nothing to do with NAT.

You will be using DHCP on your router upstream interface regardless of whether you have a static address or not. The difference is that if you have a static address you'll always be DHCPing the same address.

@Kezzainc Double NAT'g is not used on the HFC network and never has been and it's going IPv6 soon

Let me know how you get on with this as I as well opted to retain static IP and now find myself with dynamic...grrr
