Just got a Linksys WAG54GP2 modem as signing up to xnet fusion, but since installing new modem, our internet keeps dropping off every few mintues.

Contacted xnet tech desk, and was told a fault would be lodged to telecom for line issues. He said new modems have more a problem with line issues than older type modems. We shouldn't have much line problems as we live in a recently built area.

Its been having its moments, where it was connected without fault for many hours, and it continued on to today.....but has started to drop off again.

The only thing i've noticed on the modem is the Downstream Margin when it disconnects which sits at 2147483645db

PS: since typing this post up, the net has disconnected and reconnected about 7 times (at least)

Is your modem set to G.dmt, at this stage it's best to leave it on that

What is your old modem, and you are sure the problem is not there with it?  Can be a faulty Linksys.

You can never have enough Volvos!

The modem is only 4 days old, but i cannot rule out a faultly one.
At the moment the modem is plugged into the network, but not used as the internet connection, only for wireless and phone (when xnet connects it).

It has had moments where it has connected to the internet for serveal hours without fault and the speeds have been great, but it didn't last. Once it starts to disconnect it just keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

The tech i called said he has had problems with new modem dropping the line as it beleives it not connecting as good as it should, so keeps disconnecting the reconnecting to try and get a good connection. But in saying that the our old modem has not problems connecting and staying connected.

Hello Sarge,

Can you PM me your username or account number so i can take a look at this for you. There are some other factors besides the modem itself and some port adjustments we can make to instill some stability. Unfortunately not all modem/routers are created equal .

Emailed my account number to your address. Hopefully you can figure what may help. I don't think the modem is at fault, since it has connected perfectly for at least 8 hours in the weekend.
