My mother has an older Iphone on Ios 7.1.2 (the last supported for this phone) The my vodafone app on it no longer works and complains that you need IOS 9 or above to use it.

This seems a rather rediculous restriction? when it use to work fine.

Where is this risk in users using the app to check their data etc? it looks like now she has to login and bookmark her account page.

If anyone from Vodafone is there please restore the functionality back for user of older IOS devices.
