Hi all,

I've followed the setup instructions at this URL: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=65&TopicId=17174

But, I'm getting this message in my /var/log/asterisk/messages -

    "[Apr 11 08:28:34] WARNING[12312] chan_sip.c: Got 404 Not found on SIP register to service MYUSERID@as.wxcnz.net, giving up"

Can anyone offer any tips/clues?

Cheers,
Phil

Do you have this setup in your hosts file ?

You will be required to edit your /etc/hosts (linux) C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) and add the following:

58.28.20.150 as.wxcnz.net

Also ... I hear a guy saying "the device you're using is not registered to place calls on the network"

My source IP will be 202.89.61.44

Yep I see whats wrong your sending either your auth id or password as the username

0S______________wvd@as.wxcnz.net instead of 9950xxxx@as.wxcnz.net

Hmm, still can't get it to work ... this is my config ...

[trunk_1]
disallow = all
allow = g729
allow = ulaw
allow = alaw
context = DID_trunk_1
dialformat = ${EXTEN:1}
canreinvite = no
hasexten = no
hasiax = no
hassip = yes
host = as.wxcnz.net
port = 5060
registeriax = no
registersip = yes
secret = O4__________________L7
trunkname = Custom - VFX
trunkstyle = customvoip
username = 0S________________vd
callerid = 9950XXXX
fromdomain = as.wxcnz.net
fromuser = 9950XXXX
type = peer
insecure = invite,port
nat = yes
register = 9950XXXX:O4__________________L7:0S________________vd@as.wxcnz.net/9950XXXX

But ... if i change the "username" argument above slightly, as follows:

username = 9950XXXX

i get the following in my logs:

[Apr 12 00:33:58] NOTICE[14694] chan_sip.c: Failed to authenticate on REGISTER to '9950XXXX@as.wxcnz.net' (Tries 3)
[Apr 12 00:34:18] NOTICE[14694] chan_sip.c: -- Registration for '9950XXXX@as.wxcnz.net' timed out, trying again (Attempt #16)

your still sending the 0S______________wvd@as.wxcnz.net, this was the last one we see at  00:28 this morning

This looks okay highlighted part and that looks to be correct but the "failed to authenticate " looks to be the issue, password / auth info not correct maybe ?

[Apr 12 00:33:58] NOTICE[14694] chan_sip.c: Failed to authenticate on REGISTER to '9950XXXX@as.wxcnz.net' (Tries 3)

leave it this way, then PM your details VFX number etc as I don't have any details for you , so cant dig any further
