As it stands at the moment. Some chch TCL cable customers may have connection problem - as with me too.

Check TCL Network status for update.

Area Affected: Christchurch
Customer Impact: Our overhead cables (transport/catv networks) were damaged due to Car vs Pole incident at the corner of Barrington St. and Wychbury St in Christchurch as reported by Trans South. This has caused service interruption to our IP/CATV customers in the area. The fibre restoration work is pended until the replacement of a new pole is completed by Orion (Power Company).

Hell yeah was shocked when I woke up and no internet nor TV!! Hope it's fixed when I get home, and it's cold out there, with the wind feel sorry for the folks who are out there fixing it.

What area are you in? My area/home is Upper Riccarton/Sockburn. The downpoint is at Barrington area. I wonder how big/wide the accident affected. Strangely enough, why is there no backloop to feed alternative route?

i just got home from work and my TC cable is fine, im in waltham - not too far from barrington or atleast closer than my mate whos in hornby and hes been effected and i havent...seems strange to me

They told me this morning at 6 a.m. only Riccarton and Hornby area are affected.

so theres 15000 subscribers in just riccarton and hornby?seems like a lot, and why not the people in barrington if the line was damaged in barrington? Is it good yet? Some people will be "spitting tacs" if they missed the rugby!

nope. still down with the connection. Network Status stated that it may be back on 12midnight... i doubt so though, sounded pretty serious damage.

Posting this from my Vodafone UMTS card... (it switches in and out of GPRS and UMTS. lol)

YAY! I got the cable back!!! Internet is working again... Looks like my Exchange server will be busy trying to work those incoming emails... hope i won't lost any emails :-S

lol trust you to stay up for it, I slept like a baby and woke up with internet being on :)
