Reading thru the forums and mostly read about poeple having problems left, right and centre.
I'm posting this to reassure that not all is bad.

I swtiched to xnet from ihug, due to ihugs new plans saving me $10 but losing 30GB a month usage. After much isp searching, I choose xnet due to good pricing and the great ability for being able to control my usage. Only being charged for what I use, and the ability to increase my cap if need be, won me over to xnet.

Have been with xnet for over 8-10months and had NO real problems. The speeds are great, both upload and download. I will admit that lately international speed has been poor, but I beleive its due to the amount of poeple siging to fusion. PATIENCE IS A VERTU poeple, it will be fixed (watch southpark season 12 episode 06, and most users are just like that), otherwise go sign up somewhere else and the ones left on xnet will have it great again.

I recently signed up to fusion, and first faxed application away......it was lost. Then emailed application away......it was misplaced. Finally rang them up and fusion was working the next day.

After many problems with my internet disconnecting (found out to be poor modem design and was overheating while on its side), the internet and phone are working prefectly.

I am extremely happy and inpressed with thier online information about your account details (internet, voice etc)

Conclusion: i still beleive xnet to be a good isp and have no will to change.

I am too switch from IHUG to Xnet last month.
Remember the days IHUG system crashed, it took many months ( half a year or more) to sort out the
network problem. i.e outage like data usage, email etc. I was able to download 50 gig in 2 hours !
that's how bad the usage meter recorded.

Yes lately XNET international speed is not that good, especailly  at peak time.

I still believe Xnet will sort out this issue sooner or later.

One thing AFAIK Xnet is the only NZ ISP at the moment that  you can sign up without a contract.
If one is so unhappy with Xnet why not switch to another ISP ?

I think that plenty of providers do have contract-free connections, as long as you don't take up offers, like free modems (which they throw in front of people's faces)

The difference here is for most ISP's you would still pay the $99 connection fee to have no contract. Xnet waiver this fee, and still don't tie you in.

All the ISPs I've been looking at have contacts (without any offers at all), or connection fees, or both.

I choose WxC because of their unique pay as you go plans. With my previous ISP I'd always find myself either running out of my allocation a couple of days before renewal and be stuck at dial-up speeds, or faced with a top up charge... or worse only use a small portion of my allocation on other months. This way I can monitor my usage, but not feel like I'm restricted or wasting money.

I've found WxC to be very good to deal with - both in sales and support, and have been more than happy since joining back in December.

I know that I'm not smart enough to find problems with them Tongue out

I've had some great service, switched from Xtra as they never returned my emails in Oct last year. I suppose I am a bit biased as I took about 20-30 mins on the phone with a the xnets helpdesk getting me set up as I had a few issues - but he didn't make me feel like I was wasting his time or that he needed to get off the phone ASAP. The same dude called me back the next day to make sure it was working properly which I appreciated.

Reading the posts here, I was almost believing they had gone from troopers to dupers .... but will keep faith for now ... hoping they fix whatever problems it sounds like people think they have.

When I joined in Jan 07 my reason for joining Xnet were

1. Telstra could not relocate my cable service to the new address so I had to go dsl
2. No contact with WxC
3. Wavered the $99 install
4. Pay for what you use
5. NZ owned and operated
6. Rated well by NZ Consumer Mag

Apart from a couple of problems, which XNet fixed pretty prompty, I have had a pretty positive time with them over the last 10 months, or so.

Sure, there's some international bandwidth issues in the evenings - but  from what I read  there's plans in place to  try and resolve  them.

On the whole I can't fault WxC's customer service.  It's the best I've received from any ISP in New Zealand.  No contracts, being quoted worst case scenario for setup times (2 business days for VFX setup - completed in 30 to 45 minutes, 5 - 6 days for Fusion setup - done in 2 days).  The team at XNet always seem to beat my expectations.

We are signing up a load of customers to WorldxChange's VOIP platform, and have had nothing but good results with their platform, and technical skills.

We have used nearly every ISP in the market, some of them twice and no one compares to XNET, on price or service. :-)

Thought I would throw my experiences in (sorry if its a bit long)

I signed our office up to DVX for voice calls. Staff members such as Shelley @ WxC are fantastic I dont ever regret moving the office from Telecom as our primary phone provider to WxC and thats a far riskier proposition than your home DSL.

I've had pretty much zero problems from going live with DVX except the odd number I couldnt dial at the start (wierd area codes on international numbers in australia etc..) was as simple as an email a call back from an actual technician who diagnosed it as a codec problem and fixed the issue immediately great stuff. Call quality, reliability etc.. are faultless.

As for residential support experiences on my home xnet DSL I've got very slow sync speeds but thats a Telecom/line issue and Xnet are having that sorted so no critism there even got thanked for doing thorough diagnosis from the person looking into my issue :)

I will admit that I had a problem signing a friend up awhile ago to Xnet (not long after Xnet Fusion was released) but the helpdesk for support issues was still easy to get through to and when you did reach someone they were still the same knowledgeable staff as always. Xnet have freely admitted they had a higher than expected demand for Fusion, a company cant resolve a problem like that "instantly" good staff take awhile to hire you know! Also that person I signed up to Xnet is quite happy now they are on the service and are saving money to boot.

I've also recently changed across to fusion from Xnet River/telecom landline I waited awhile for all the fuss over fusion to die down a bit cant fault my experience got a email saying it would happen in about 10 days time. Received a letter a few days later stating the date I would be ported across and it happened exactly on that date.

In summary WxC can happily use me as a referral no regrets :)

I'm on xnet officially today having switched from ihug. I read all the negative stuff but decided to change as there seems to be alot of users that complain but stick with em anyway so there must be something otherwise everyone would be leaving in droves.

It took 2 business days to get switched over and all is running well. Slow on the international server but no worse than ihug was. I'm faster on the auckand one with xnet.

No contract, no set up fees and will work out cheaper paying per GB. I have yet to have a disconnect whereas with ihug it was a regular occurance who blamed the adsl modem. Today I feel like a kid with a replacement for a broken toy.Cool

I want to move to Xnet, but I have just 1 question for the happy users. At 8:45 on a Wednesday evening can you go to youtube.com and play a 5 minute video without it constantly stopping and starting And can you do that consistently on any other day of the week?

That's all I want in an ISP and it's something I don't get with my current ISP and it's nothing to do with my line speed, connections to Auckland servers are nothing short of "blazing"!
