This is a follow up to a thread I started in the NZ Broadband forum re VDSL, but which veered into RBI fibre, then how to arrange that through Vodafone. The RBI related info is on p2 of this thread.

As discussed in that thread, there is RBI fibre along the road we live on. The info comes from a Chorus internal mapping system, CCM. The publicly available rural fibre map https://www.chorus.co.nz/our-network/rural-broadband/rural-fibre does not show RBI fibre along the road. The availability of RBI fibre along the road has, however, been confirmed by two people.

I phoned Vodafone sales today to ask for an "NGA on application" from Chorus for a connection. However, the CSR said the checking tool showed RBI fibre was not available at our address. As a result she was not able to process my application. I mentioned the Chorus internal CCM system and that I had been advised that RBI fibre is available but she again said the application could not be processed as her checks showed no RBI fibre available.

Is there a more suitable section or contact in Vodafone I can request this to be escalated to; eg. with access to the Chorus CCM system?

So reading back over that you're showing Green RBI fibre outside your property on the CCM map. This is different to the rural fibre(blue) layer that can easily support connections and shows on the public map. Green can't necessarily support a rural RBI connection.

i'd say your best bet with vodafone staff is..

I may be way off track here but it seems like that is a distribution fiber ie. what is used to link the cabinet in Waiwera (RDB/D) back to the Red Beach Exchange (locations look way too close)

Green RBI fibre is not rural fibre - it's distribution fibre for RBI based services.

In CCM there is an additional blue layer (a different blue to the Chorus HSNS fibre) called rural fibre which is what can be used to deliver rural RBI services. These are very different. It may be possible under some very unique circumstances to get a RBI UFB service delivered over the green RBI fibre and I was working on one around a month ago.

For anybody wanting rural fibre you're after the blue rural fibre overlay in CCM which corresponds to the rural fibre map on the public website. It seems based on quickly skimming the previous thread that the OP has green RBI fibre which will explain why they can't get a connection.

The OP is after an application to consider an out of the normal RBI Fibre.

Take a look at some key locations like Tapaki road or scenic drive against the Rural fibre map and CCM, this is a few examples that totally contradict.

One point that possibly helps in this case is that there is already a spur line (to a cell tower) the joins the green not far from us. May mean there is access to the green line at that point???
