i was browsing vodafone live last night, i went into communities and noticed a link to bebo there. I assumed it was free as there was no notive saying it was to pay for, and vodafone say that they always alert you if you are going to a link that you will be charged for. I lost about 3$ off my account. Gladly not more as i only had about 3 dollars on my account. Why is this? its the second time! after youtube being charged for!

You should always assume that anything outside the Vodafone servers will be charged unless a clear message states differently.

Looks like someone forgot to chuck the warning page on
VF state Live as free to browse and always explicitly stated when they were going to deduct $$ from your account e.g. sky mobile, purchasing ringtones etc.

What about the average joe who has no clue about data charges and what classes as not being free to browse.

OT but does anybody know how much the mobile youtube costs a "casual user"? and if there is any "premium pricing" in there?

I got quite a shock when I was testing out the Jumback chat servers using totally different access credentials and vodafone charged me 30c/10KB instead of rating it under the 1GB plan and I was on the wild APN, www.vodafone.net.nz

Vodafone don't tell you *anywhere* that Bebo is charged at normal data rates. All you see when you log into live! is "it's free to browse"

To quote the Vodafone Live! fqa (available on the live! portal)

"Vodafone live! charging is clear and simple! You only pay for what you use eg you only pay the cost of the download/weekly subscription/one-off request, not for traffic/airtime to download it. In fact, on Vodafone live!, you'll always be notified before incurring a charge, in that you'll always be presented with a purchase page informing you of the charges you're about to incur

blah blah blah

But remember, you will always be notified before incurring a charge - so you'll know exactly how much you're spending"

It's quite clear that Vodafone have ripped you off, I'd be wanting my money back. Infact they're ripping plenty of customers off and don't seem interested in doing anything about it.

What are you going to do Vodafone? Nothing again?

No thay have some services (Actually just different rated domains it seems) that are a "premium rate" of 30C per 10KB.

This appears to be regardless of what user-agent (browser) or what APN you are borwsing through. Jumbuck.com is one such example.

YES, you've been charged for it, NO you shouldn't have been.

We've taken down access to Bebo while we get that fixed and it'll be back up as soon as we can (shouldn't be too long).

For those that have been billed, please let me know (PM or email - go on, you can guess my address) and I'll send it on to the right team for a refund.

thanks for that ;) but that is the second time thats happened! they need to be more carefull. And do they entend to make bebo free on vodafone live or not?

Yes this is costing me money too, to go on bebo (since it's back up on the Vodafone life site).

I will PM PaulBrislen in a minute about it too, for a refund.

But this will be awesome when I get to use it for free!!

Just seen the new vodafone live menu, much better now!!

and yes, i see bebo there, i am a little relucktent to try incase i loose more money again... can someone confirm it's free?

Is bebo or wikipedia free to acces via the Vodafone live portal?

$10 per MB is just an insult if you ask me lol

$10 per GB is more reasonable.
