Hey guys,

Just made a claim on my s8+ through vodafone phoneInsure which i dropped and cracked the screen (whoops)

It sounds like it will be repaired using aftermarket parts, will I still retain the water resistance? Sounds like my warranty with Samsung will also be void?

Could someone please confirm this?

Thanks!

Sounds like they're cheaping out. To be fair, most repair companies repair to: "as new" which means seals intact etc and genuine parts.

Check your contract, it may state is specifically state third party components may be used.

Or try ring up as a potential customer and ask "if I was to break my phone would you replace the parts with genuine" and if they say yes, but still proceed to provide you with 3rd party components you've caught them out in a lie and there may be options for recourse.

(which by the is totally legal in NZ - to surreptitiously record phone calls with good reason.)
