Hi Guys,

This is for anyone interested in the rollout of Cabinetistation throughout New Zealand.

Also contains a lot of good information about how and why so woth a look around the site.

Overview:
Cabinetisation will shorten the copper loop to households which will allowfor faster spped DSL connections due to them being fed from the cabinets and not the exchange.

I could not find any mention of Tawa (looking in Wellington City and Porirua) or Upper Hutt (though Lower Hutt is a listed location).  Does this mean that those areas dont have cabinets?  Just curious.

Oldgeek, this spreadsheet is more detailed, try about line 651 of the 2nd sheet (Cabinetisation_List).

Hmmm, seems that anything below Sunnynook on the North Shore don't get anything.

Mornington MNG/B [2] 1/07/2008 1/07/2008 Binding 281 Dunedin City KAIKORAI VALLEY, BELLEKNOWES, BROCKVILLE Loop shortening plus ADSL2+

Although the Telecom page did specify April 2009. But I like this date better

One thing of real importance to note is that when you are feed from the cabinet it drastically effects any performance of exchange based DSL services due to loss through the cabinet as they will have to pass through the cabinet, however you will see greatly improved services feed directly from the cabinet as the loop is now shorter...unless someone goofed big time Smile
