As asked above - do they still do this?

Would have thought they would be keen to migrate folks off analogue to free up channels for Internet or whatever

TelstraClear: Existing TV customers wishing to upgrade to Digital TV pay a one time upgrade fee of $99 plus an additional $5 per month on their existing TV Package.

I think this is the answer. Found it on a random TC plan page.

You were able to get around this originally by disconnecting and starting up a new digital connection for a 2 yr contract...  i did this disconnected on one day and re-connected the next.

That's a good idea. Will try that. Thanks

But does it still cost $5 more per month?

Sure does, but the upgrade from Analogue to Digital is well worth the extra $5.  TCL's billing system is kinda wonky though since I never subscribed to Analogue and went straight to digital, yet my bill says "TV+Digital Upgrade" in two line items.

Somebody told me a while back that the TCL store in Wgtn was going free upgrades at one stage if you signed up in there. I have no idea if this is still happening or whether it was just some sort of promo but it wouldn't hurt to pop in and ask them!
