Does anyone know where to get the link to the latest firmware for the HG659 modem/router ? i tried downloading it form vodafones site but it looks like it has been removed.

Includes 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bug fix and Port Forwarding bug fix.

Is there a history log for this update? as in what the bug with the 2.4GHZ wifi was/is?

Hello, just updated to the new firmware. (re Fibre) I see the MTU: 1500 as before, though the MSS is now set at '1460', where previously was '0'

Has anyone installed this and can answer my one burning question?

Do all of the settings stay or does it connect because it gets the defaults? The reason I ask is I have a client who is experiencing an issue whereby their port forwarding rules disappear which I assume is the Bug fix spoken about but they have the router on a changed IP subnet with DHCP disabled and I want to know of I can do the firmware update remotely or if settings will be lost so I need to be onsite after-hours to do it.

PS - I complained about the Power forwarding bug on behalf of another client back in February this year and Vodafone's help-desk answer was simply "We don't support port forwarding" so my client went ahead and purchased a "better" router (IE one that this simple function works on).

The settings on my hg659 were reset. Luckily I had just created a backup just prior to uploading.

Yes, we always recommend making a backup for settings etc.

Looks like the tools to decrypt the configuration backup no longer work with this new firmware

hg635_configtool.py

Can anyone else confirm they have the same issues, or have found a work around.

Settings should be preserved through firmware upgrades if they were made as the 'vodafone' user. If you used the admin user to make changes then they'll be reset to default.

MSS setting changed a bit between versions, but the end result is the same - you'll receive an MSS value of 1460. Just leave as is unless you have a particular need to tweak.

Log is simply the 2.4GHz Wi-fi fix and the Port Forwarding as mentioned before. What do you want to know?
