Insane. Have to wonder how much longer till Vodafone start calling all their products Fibre_, all their product use Fibre somewhere in the stack after all.

I think it's time we all wrote complaints to the ASA ourselves.





Information wants to be free. The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.

Interesting read. I do agree that for most people, the 'end user' experience will not be noticeably different, and also that anyone who actually cares will know enough to know the differences between the different products. 

 

 

 

But I still think calling a cable network 'FibreX' has to be misleading. How can it not be?

Ok, started reading - first sentence... It's an ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) complaint. I don't think those guys are technically minded and I think the thread title should be "ASA deems FibreX not misledading" because as it is sounds like the end game is here.

 

Funny thing is that they confirm the words can be misleading when Fibre/Cable/UFB are used but they still think overall it's not.

 

As someone mentioned, wait for the ComCom investigation.

(d) The relevant consumers are familiar with the HFC network.
(e) The network is an alternative to the Government’s UFB Initiative, offering equivalent speeds.
(f) The FibreX network does not suffer from the disadvantages of traditional copper networks and it is misleading to depict is as such.
