Hi, didn’t want to hijack another thread... But i'm having similar problems with the PAP2T and lack of sound / dial tone, the other mentioned solutions / fixes do not match exactely my scenario.

I've just joined VFX (Fusion) - believe i went naked last Friday as that’s when our Telecom phone line went dead. I have had no response from the helpdesk, which i logged a couple of days ago ( #104389 )

Some facts

  • I've got three lights on the PAP2T - Power / Internet and Line 1 all consistently on
  • I cannot get into the admin as it was pre-configured from xnet (i do not know the login / pass), and cannot reset the device due to lack of sound
  • I can see the status page with VFX phone number, tired calling it and the Last Caller Number: shows my cell as expected
  • SIP messages seem to be sent / received without issue.

My Current Assumptions

  • It could be our wireless phone that is causing the issue?

Also still waiting for our old phone number to be ported to VFX, no update on that either.

Hi Lynxnz,

Please remove the MAC address from your screenshot.

In regards to the dial tone, do you have a basic handset that you can try in the phone jack? it appears your number is registered so you should be presented with dialtone.  If not, then try calling into our helpdesk and ask them to try your number on line 2.

Removed MAC - Done.

Yup - was the phone itself. Re-tried with a basic handset and all was good.... Dial tone was instant and could get out without issues. Cheers for you help.

The wireless phone had 4 pins on the wire, the wired handset only had 2 pins (or active wires), wondering if that made the difference?

It should not make a difference.  My guess is a faulty handset or perhaps the handset and it;s base station is not pared (i.e. lost it's address).  Don't know how you would pare it, but just a guess.

Nope. If i plug the wireless handset back into the telecom analogue connection i get the disconnected tones without issue. So its not a pairing issue with the phone, just seems this brand of phone doesn't like the PAP2T...  Undecided

Are you using a rj12 to BT adapter cable and the wireless phones own cable, or a straight thru rj12 to rj12 cable from somewhere else on the wireless phone?
