Hello All,

Anyone noticed that any issues calling China numbers today? I've tried calling a landline number that connects fine through my mobile however just gets silience on the VoIP.

To add to that, when I call a China Mobile number from the VFX unit (have to type quick before it cuts me off with an invalid number prompt), it rings and can be answered but they can't hear me.

To this day, i haven't had any luck calling china from VFX (maybe one china mobile call), but 0161 and other means work fine?

My friend is also having the same problem calling to canton

It seems when she calls before 12am the call are diverted to some random place in china who speaks mandarin then after 12am she is able to get thru but they can't hear her..

I also tried calling to malaysia just now and I get an engage tone  however the call went thru using Skype. I then called using VFx again and to my surprised a engage tone.

I tried calling a different number in malaysia.This time the call went thru and there were a dial tone but the sound was extremely distorted.Alot of crackling sound.

Not very please with VFX

There has been occasions where If I hang up a call the phone rings and it would be the call that I original hang up..

I'll have to give their support a call on Tuesday. Their odd hours during the weekends/public holidays make it hard to get hold of them.

i havent made any calls to china but one VFX call to england took a considerable amount of time to connect (~30 secs) during which there was no sound (no ringtone etc) while connecting, but once connected was fine (turns out this was an issue with the phone/pabx system in england). Calls through to Japan are fine.

Just a couple of things here, the issue sounds a termination issue most probably an issue with the carrier we are using for this destination, this has NOTHING to do with VFX itself it would effect all your calls if it was VFX,

We have numerous carriers that we interconnect with and we can use anyone of them for termination to destinations, if you have a destination issue that is effecting a destinaton and not the VFX service your best bet is to log a fault with the help desk , 0800123123 they will check out the destination and advise our carrier group, they will then check and reroute if necassary.

Also the other issue it looks like your doing a flash hook with your phone, ie putting the call on hold thats why the call is still there on hang up, it just could be the way you hang up the call.

I logged a call early this morning regarding the issue. Was told that I'd get a callback regarding it (I thought the person said today?).

Calling now regarding a time schedule issue, might check to see the progress/status of this... if I get through (12 minutes on hold)

Hi cokemaster,

I have experienced the same thing in the past. In my case I tried ringing a number in Beijing (China) but I got a NZ recorded message saying "the number you are calling cannot be connected at this time". I kept trying for a further 20-30 more attempts and it finally connected and worked for a while. Later I got disconnected mid-call, I just repeated the process of re-dialling (around 20 times or more) until there was a connection. It is a clumsy and inconvenient way to talk to someone, but at least it worked for me. My guess is that it is related to the international call carrier as maverick has said. You can try my re-dialling method with some patience, it paid off for me.

It also happens regularly to my calls to Seoul (South Korea) and Hong Kong.

I have good confidence this is an issue that Xnet can mend, just give them some time (and make sure you report the fault to them with the time of call where possible as I have done).
