Found an anomaly with caller ID. Related partly to the advanced features, but also with call return from voicemail.
When using the Call Manager, and click to call a number say from Outlook contacts: if the number I call is another VFX user, my caller ID is not presented. If the number I call is off net, eg Telecom land-line, or mobile phone, my caller ID is presented. This is also applicable to call return from VM. My friend on VFX returned my call, come up as private on my VFX line, but once it stepped to my mobile, his ID was then presented.
An example if you want to check is two calls between 19:30 & 19:40 this evening. The first call from my 950 number to a 818 Telecom number, caller ID presented. Second call, from my 950 number to a 07 VFX number, caller ID not presented. Both calls using click to call from Call Manager.
Hmmm??

Hi Fraser,

just ran through those example nows ,

Message left from a CLI restricted call and a Non restricted call, the Non Restricted call gives you the option to call back from the Voice Portal the Restricted call does not.

Called from the Commpilot to my Mobile using an outlook contact , CLI was restricted

Restricted VFX Caller calls my VFX number caller ID is blocked, then forwards of to my Mobile caller ID was still blocked, will give you a call to discuss what you found as i can't see the issue here as of yet.

Hi Fraser,

As discussed I understand the issue a bit more now, we have reproduced the 2 issues the one from Voicemail and the one from the contacts list using Commpilot Call Manager,

The first issue is your CLI not being presented when you return the call from Voicemail to VFX users - (We are now looking at this)

The second Issue is your CLI not being presented to callers outside your VFX calling area when using outlook contacts and Commpilot, the Issue here is you storing your numbers in e164 format +64 3 xxx xxxx etc if you have them as 0 xxx xxxx it will work correctly, however we will be looking to see why it works inside your calling area but not outside.

The issue is not as critical as I thought intially that CLI's were being presented when marked as restricted ....that would have been bad Embarassed.

Yea, should have explained it was all from unrestricted CLI's. Not a major issue, but more an inconvenience as you tend not to use the easy to use features: e.g. you end up hanging up from voicemail, dial friend's number manually etc.

Thanks

Just had another play with this. It is definitely the e164 format issue. I reproduced this with my two lines that are in the same LCA. I.E. 950nnnn passes CLI, +649950nnnn does not. Perhaps this is related to the VM issue too; i.e. the call return is also using full e164 format.

Looks all good now - cheers. Was it the same underling E.164 issue between both scenarios?

actually no, it had nothing to do with the format of E164, bit hard to explain really as it relates to the routing of the call but the basic effect was in certain unique call scenarios the callerid was getting marked as restricted, required a change to the way we looked at CLI, but all should be good now Smile.
