Been trying to grab(download) a couple of items from the net but they are taking forever to download when they are usually super fast. This is on a 200/20 connection and wondering if traffic is being shaped or I could have a technical issue. Anybody else?

What site ? They could be having issues with bandwidth themselves, or routing has changed causing a slow down.

it doesnt matter if i am or am not on cable. its irrelevant to the point i was trying to make.

why would you go strait for traffic shaping as a cause of a slowdown? what troubleshooting did you do to come to that conclusion?

restarted everything..gaming is fine..everything in fact is fine except for the "t" word which so slow it has stopped regardless of where I access from.

If you're torrenting then I would firstly question the health of your swarm.

Gaming is a low bandwidth requirement so if it's working well it doesn't indicate your connection is at full speed. What's your speedtest?

BTW it's expensive to put in equipment to throttle you ok, much better for your ISP to just put in the money to buy more bandwidth.

So many questions, but unlikely to be shaping. If it's torrents then it's more likely port forwarding needs to be tweaked, or as mentioned, health of the other end.

Usual questions apply to start with: Anything changed on your network? Any OS/App/Hardware updates missing, or recently applied? Any new installs on your device that could conflict? Have you checked the ports are open? Have you done speed tests to multiple locations nationally/internationally using multiple services (e.g. Fast, SpeedTest, etc). Tried a different BitTorrent app? Tried a different device? Tried the same download on a LAN vs WiFi? Tried the same download on a different network altogether?

Good advice..I will try a different app. But other than that nothing changed..it just stopped downloading 24 hours ago..well when i say stopped smallish files wanting over 2 days to download.

Because ISPs have a history of doing dodgey things inorder to sell services at an impossibly low cost. Remember when slingshot ruined torrents except for their cache, and when spark had go large and you could mess with the shaping with a referrer header etc?

Totally reasonable to think its the ISP trying to control costs.
