In January, WxC began proisioning Naked DSL services under our Xnet Fusion brand.
As predicted, there were some issues with number porting and confused field installers in the beginging so we only turned it loose on our existing customers and Geekzoners. You folks have clearly not kept it to yourself because we have set up more customers than forecasted by some measure.

To date, we have not officially launched the product but are now comfortable that the processes are working and that the hardware folks can keep up with consumer demand.

We will continue to develope the Customer Management portals and try to reduce the multiple log in issue while ensuring your service security. We will also continue developing unified messaging, additional features and portability options.

WorldxChange is interested in your views and comments on the product bundle as it stands today.

Does it meet your expectations?
Does it save you money overall?
Are there things that we should consider changing?
Any other comments?

1) Yes, no problems except the initial delay in getting the port done
2) Not much, but I do get FS/FS for approx the same price that I used to get Stream FS/128 and a telecom line
3) Just the single sign on issues

I've only just subscribed (16th June) so these are only preliminary comments. A couple of things I noticed so far are:
1) It would be nice to be able to get some sort of update on progress as I'm still in the "is it there yet.... I can't wait.... where is my new toy...." stage waiting to be connected
2) I wanted to buy a Linksys all in one box. DSE don't stock this anymore despite being listed on your web site. In Wellington the only option was PB Tech at approx $250.
3) I already have phone/internet/TV from Telstra cable service. I am ordering this in addition to the cable and will move my internet service over when I'm happy. When I rang to order and tried to give the full picture I got "we don't have a process for that". So I went for the "I don't have internet or phone service, just an old unused Telecom line" and there is a process for that so hopefully my connection is underway.
4) Your website also mentioned somewhere to call and ask if you were planning on using a fax. I tried asking the sales people and didn't get very far.

Overall though it's not bad for something that you've just "soft launched", call centre answered the phone quickly which is a very good start.

Would love to switch to fusion, but a couple of issues.

5 days downtime.
I can't switch over from Orcon phone/dsl directly and I dont really want to move my phone back to Telecom etc etc. Ah well will wait until this is possible.

I live in a flat and thought it would be great to get fusion after I rad about it on these forums. So we did, and we have had fusion since beginning of March (ish)

1) Yes it has meet my expectations, been great overall.
2) I think so, with it all bundled into one and with cheap phone calls to phone home (since every flattly live out of town) makes it cheaper overall, and easier to use then things like calling cards.
3) Just trying to simplyfy it for the non technicall I guess, about it though. Becuase I think that is the next market you would want to head into? Also realiability where old people can't blame technology for everything not working! ha
4)

It has been great, there have been times where the phone seems to drop packets or something similar when someone is using the internet, maybe QoS not working properly, but not to sure. Also been great with Xnet, great company and always (seems to) help the customer out in every way possible to make it cheaper or a better quality service, e.g. signing up with gameplanet.

Maybe sell routers? Not to sure about this one as I dunno if it would be worth your time, but just helping out the non technical customer when they sign up, so they know that they are going to get a product that is going to work all the time with very little setup.

But yea, Fusion rocks!

Since I'm not a customer there isn't really much I can comment on!

My only suggestion would be that maybe WxC need to look at installation options for their products, in particular Fusion where people are potentially switching to a VoIP product and may want to make wiring changes to their house to allow the use of existing phones.

As we are seeing there are large numbers of people experiencing ADSL issues and overlooking their blaming their ISP or Telecom when their house wiring is infact the cause of their issues. The ability for somebody who has no idea what they are doing to go and a buy a DIY kit with jackpoint and wire has caused plenty of issues in this country!

Maybe WxC could look at partnering with a company to offer installations of the Fusion product. The obvious issue here is one of cost and it's hard to know whether people would be willing to pay $100 - $200 for an installation and since WxC don't offer term contracts it would obviously be hard to offer this service for free for entering into a contract.

Maybe others have an opinion on this.. Maybe it could be a selling point for people who feel intimidated by technology?

Would you pay for an installer to come and perform the installation for you?

I want to switch to Fusion however then porting issues are preventing this at this point in time - not Xnets fault I know but an update as to what is happening with porting would be good.

Some potential users are probably holding off because of the cost of purchasing an ATA adaptor can be quite a hit for some people.
How about doing some form of "rental" or "rent to buy" option for the ATA adaptors ?

Overall Fusion will cost me more monthly, however I'd also be getting a lot more for that extra money so it evens it out cost wise.

My 2c.

Have a range of other speed plans. Say, 2Mbps/512kbps, FS/256kbps, data only for a cheaper price, etc

Improve the sign-up process! If we can't order online, then at least provide the application form, rather than call up Sales, and then filling in an application form they send. Plus, you need a "Friend referral" box there... :)

Being a fusion customer it has really saved me alot of hassle dealing with telecom.I like the idea of having to pay one bill only.It hasn't saved me alot of money .Like $20?I just wish fusion would cost a little less but I like the torrent plan and I saved a substantial amount of money joining that plan.Hopefully more attractive plans like that would come out in the future

It has met me expectations however I'm still having issues with my VFX.Voices being cut off when talking .Peak time is slow.

Probably the only think thats needs to be change is the amount of login required .I want to log in to my vfx calls,email,account usage all in one.

I like xnet and will continue to support them

Actually I have a comment

I put money towards my account eveyr week which makes the usage meter balance to date a bit wrong.

Say the bill is $170.I would pay around $50 a week towards the bill..I don't think the usage meter balance to date changes.

I would love to see account transactions .If i pay $50 a week.I would like to see the total credit in my xnet account without having to call xnet and asking them how much Im on credit on my account

1. Yes it does
2. Yes it does - and having spent a decent chunk of time looking at the dollar figures involved with various plans from various providers before settling on this plan, I knew it would anyway.
3. As mentioned by Filterer, single sign on for your website. This has been raised this in the "You Interview The CEO" thread...

No, actually there is something - I've always found your helpdesk CSR's to exceptionally helpful, they do a brilliant job!!

isnt Compilot a softphone? beacause xnet already vend that in the advanced VFX features.

Getting close, but not quite. E.G. try using in a hotel where you don't have a DDI. Likewise, if your DDI is overseas somewhere, having a true soft-phone means you don't pay for the diversion leg.
The remote office feature is definitely a great feature. I used it this weekend when staying at friends. Since they were on VFX too, my incoming diverted calls were free, and my calls back to Auckland were also free :)
