Hi guys,

I called earlier today to ask for a second VFX line to be connected to my SPA2102. Everything seemed fine and I recieved the e-mail letting me know it would become active shortly (and indeed the line 2 light has now lit up). However since the second line came online It appears that I can no-longer make or recieve calls!

There is a dialtone, but all outbound calls result in the 'disconnected' tone. Inbound calls appear to be going straight to my voicemail.

I'm kinda stuck here now, as on nDSL the VFX lines are my only home & business phone. A little help please guys?

In the nicest possible way I ask have you rung the helpdesk?

Tried rebooting the SPA etc?

You have dialtone on both lines but can't ring in or out on either?

Have you had a poke around in the online portal to see if there is anything obvious that has changed?

Hey Scott, thanks for the reply.

I'm unable to call the helpdesk because:
a) my phones not working :P
b) it's after hours

I'll certainly be emailing tonight and following up with a call from my cellphone in the morning if this continues.

I have tried rebooting (several times). Did have a dialtone on both lines, neither would allow calls in or out as described. However since posting now both lines are completely dead (lights out - unregistered I guess).

I'm reluctant to try playing with any settings at my end, as everything was working perfectly fine today (in use all day in fact), it wasn't until the second line became active that this problem started - so seems likely to be the config wXc have pushed out?

Did you try and factory reset the SPA then re-insert the provisioning link?

I give up :-)

If the factory reset doesnt work then PM me your details (Vfx numbers and account number/Name) and I will get the config remade at WxC's end.

Taking a look at this this morning Phil, this is a little strange as both lines will register then stops for a while, it looks like your router is doing something at this stage, what router do you have and does it have a SIP ALG in it ?

I actually see that your router is continually changing the ports, so first step will be to see if it has a SIP ALG in the router ,

Thanks David & Phil,

My router is an oldish Dynalink RTA220 which to my knowledge has no ALG onboard. Have been using this router for several years now and it has been working fine with my VFX line up until the second line was activated yesterday.

In fact, I ran two lines on this exact hardware/configuration for a month or so last year with no issues before dropping back to one. The only difference now is that I'm now on nDSL (as of 3 days ago).

We think we know what the issue is, this router dosn't actually support SIP and is a known problem with this router type, why it was working for one line may be bacause of a custom config we had originally setup, so we have now made a change again to test this theory, but basically this device does not support VOIP see attached link,

Sorry Phil, only just did the latest reset - my Mother picked a wonderful time to call me on skype! Have just tested and that seems to have done the trick.

Interesting to hear that the router doesn't support SIP - you guys have certainly done a great job of working around this from day one then as I never knew. If this is going to be an issue ongoing or a pain for you guys to manage custom configs I can arrange to replace the router (either with a new one, or I do have a netgear DG834 floating around here somewhere).

Yes these routers arn't the best and don't support SIP as a number of other Dynalinks, we have a work around as we discussed but a better option would be a more modern router.

These DO NOT support SIP VoIP traffic

Argh!

I just bought a SPA2102 to set up VFX soon.. I'm using an RTA300 which is in the list above, am I likely to have issues aswell? Do I need to mention something when I sign up?

I was hoping I could make this router last another couple of months Cry
