Think its the oneplus 5+ that starts to support everything in NZ, the 5 did not
t0ny: Spark sim shows 4g
t0ny: ahh, k, the VF sim does not show 4g anywhere
My OP5 does connect to Vodafone 4G/4G+ on Band 1 and Band 28.
I think here in Christchurch the majority of the sites are Band 1 but if you drive out of the urban areas Band 28 coverage is pretty solid.
edit:
You can use Network Cell Info app to see which band your mobile is currently using.
t0ny: I got it sorted. Apparently my account did not have permission to use 4g so was only registering on the 3g network. Didn't even know 4g was optional
Ah i have had that happen as well, think the option is there for when they use to charge you $10 a month for 4g speeds when they first released.

robjg63: Wow - that sucks. Can't they blanket clear that restriction in their system?
It's not a restriction as such 4G needs to be provisioned
