Hi all.
Im in Raglan and have been through this before at my previous house here.
I have been told I'm on a waiting list. Xnet Tech support told me to call xnet weekly to remind them to keep hassling telecom. Does this mean they get the telecom technicians to physically check if there are new ports becoming available? If I sit back and do nothing will I get connected just as fast as if I keep getting xnet to hassle telecom?

I think if there are enough people waiting on a list, it then helps persuade Telecom to put more equipment in your local exchange so you can get broadband. It would seem the current equipment there is already full.

I've seen this issue a couple times before for people located in low population areas.

Unfortunately not much you can do.

I know someone who called xnet and asked for adsl - he was told no slots available at the exchange so he'd have to wait.

He called xtra / telecom - who gladly signed him up on some horrible broadband deal... less than a day after his line was activated he called xnet and had them migrate his new xtra line over to xnet.... So there are often ports available, but when they run low telecom hold them for themselves. - Bastards ;)

I'd give that a try first. If that doesn't work then its probably true that there are really no ports left.

Yeah I did consider trying this. I was connected a week ago tho so im a happy chappy. Seems if you want adsl here in Raglan you have to wait about a month to 6 weeks before you get connected.
