Just received this email from our ISP Farmside.  (we are RBI subscribers)

"The broadband site in your area has just been upgraded, we've done all the hard work and now the last step is up to you. To make the most of your internet and ensure you have a stable connection, you'll need to update your modem but don't worry, it's easy as!"

Wondering if anyone knows what this is about and might we see improved stability or performance.

Cheers

VodafoneNZ did a upgrade a few weeks back on the RAN side for IOT and they had to roll back the upgrade as B315 RBI modems stopped camping on Band28 700Mhz as I understand (If I remember correct)

So to correct the issue the modems need a firmware upgrade, I was told the finer detail when it went belly up was quite interesting

Not sure if this says much at all.

"We’re always looking to give our rural communities the best wireless broadband available. As part of this, we’ve upgraded some of our broadband sites and to make the most of it, you’ll just need to update your modem."

Thanks for that answer.  The best Customer Support could say was that unless the firmware upgrade took place we'd be on dialup speed at the end of the month.

Correct or the modem would camp on 3G only
