My daughter got a new prepay sim card a while ago. It doesn't allow PXT messages to be sent, despite trying the usual things.
I called the helpdesk and spend about half an hour talking with a tech guy who spent a long time off looking at things while I was on hold.

At the end of the call, her phone still does not allow PXT messages to be sent or received. I intend to call up and try again, but need to find a spare couple of hours to keep calling up and telling them "It still doesn't work".

So, if I don;t do this before August 1st, will I continually be charged, or will I have the added complication of trying to obtain a credit for the subsequent calls ?

Phil

Option 2: Added complication. Even then it's at their discretion.

Have you tried SIM in another handset that you know has no issues with PXT

What is the error message?
Where was phone purchased? What Make and Model of phone is it?

Most issues but not all come back to handset setup cause someone decided to purchase a import handset or fiddle with the settings.

Thanks for the reply.
Its definietly the SIM card, the phone is my old one which never had any trouble. I have also tried the SIM card in my new phone, and have the same trouble.

The problem is that PXT/MMS messages sent TO the phone get a text saying the phone is unable to receive the message, and you get a website address to check. Sending PXT/MMS messages FROM the phone just hang. They spend ages trying to send and eventually give up.

From the phone call with the tech, he said he could see the sim card/phone number wasn't configured correctly, but didn't elaborate. (Both phones I have tried are vodafone NZ new).

sorry abt dat if that was harsh. my apologies. but wats the use ? wats holding other companies to enter nz ? is it the govt policies. ? or is it something got to do with vodafone n the govt itself ( yeah, i do mean something deep inside this line ) ..

y does not telecom come up with a GSM service. if it offers gud pricing, it ll sell better than iphones.

y is der such a huge cost of pricing and plans compared to rest of the world... i think these are quite important issues wch is directly proportional to countires develpmnt.... like how many ppl have access to stuff , mobile broadband..etc..etc..

One very clear one is " Do not use SMS abbreviations "

Telecom ARE launching a GSM service in November, if you look anywhere on the forums you'll say many a discussion regarding this.

'directly proportional to countires develpmnt.... like how many ppl have access to stuff , mobile broadband..etc..etc.. '

I don't really see what you're getting at here..........

NZ'ers prob have one of the highest rates of access to information, communication and technology services in the world, the issue behind pricing is that at the moment there are only two providers, so they can keep prices just high enough to avoid regulation. Its just business. There are less developed countries, say in africa or europe who have prices lower than ours for data and voice, but this is because there are higher populations, therefore more revenue, therefore more providers can take a slice of it.

sorry again , to all. i am new and learning. so i will try to avoid sms from now.

and about the topic, the thing which ignited me was constant inflation, rising prices everywere. its not like food and petrol that we have to depend on someone else and which is dependent on lot of factors. its something totally different. and things like communication should always go cheaper . rather than being costly. why i specify on making it cheap is cause they are reaping benifits of a one time investment. its not like you have to water it everyday. yes you have to, may be once in 10years? i mean like in maintanence and stuff. (i am quite looking on a broad manner here ) .........i think its all being so cause of monopoly. these companies just blindly want to make profit. and only more profit. cause we are all dependent to them. we dont have any other go.

thnx for the info abt telecom bringing in gsm. now that will bring some good competition.
