Hi there,

I read in someones post they are syncing at 12Mbit on a naked DSL connection, which would indicate thy have more than ADSL1 speeds. Is anyone else doing that or is that person just confused?

I am looking to ditch ICONZ due to their DHCP bandwidth pooling reducing speeds to a crawl (they have admitted in the past they had a problem, gave me a static IP for a month and FS/FS maxing my link speed out. Switched back to DHCP and crapola again

). So its time for a change and was hoping to get something faster than ADSL1 speeds.

I'm on fusion and synced at 15641kb/s according to my ADSL2+ router tonight. I calculate we're about 1.1km from our exchange.

13305kb/s on a speedtest tonight:

I understand the quality of your router, and distance from the exchange helps. I tried several routers before I found one stable, and that performs. Settled on a Dlink DSL-G640T.

Thanks for the response Kerrin,

Will put my order to switch to fusion now :) I should be fairly close to an exchange, but I have had troubles to find out where it actually is, have asked around and nobody could tell me. Looked up the un-official register website and it wasnt listed.

What is your up-speed syncing at? Would you mind doing a few speed test to International servers? Say one to Sydney and one to USA?

This is my results as of now: (my Sync is 7616/704)

This result below is NOT a comparison but an idea on how fast you can get (my crappy VMware server in the USofA)

Would you mind also posting your connection details i.e SNR / Output Power / Line attenation . I am wondering if I am guranteed an ADSL2+ port too ? I wonder if they will update me automatically

If your on Fusion and the exchange has been upgraded to ADSL2 then the answer is yes, if the exchange hasn't been upgraded then obviously no

From what I understand naked DSL is exactly the same as normal ADSL just without the attached phone line, so if the exchange supports adsl2+, your naked DSL will also be naked 2+

I've found different modems give different results. I asked WxC to check that I was on the ADSL profile, and they came back with this:

parameter.actual.bitrate.ds  	kb/s  	7659.0  	944.0
parameter.attainable.bitrate.ds 	kb/s 	14820.0 	944.0

Since replacing the Linksys with my DLink, I'm actually getting better than the attainable...
