To anyone from Vodafone …

This morning -

I tried to top up a pre-pay mobile using a Voucher …. instructions say to TXT the 12 digit PIN to 887.  Didn't work, TXT just 'hung' with clock icon showing, viz. not sent.

I then went to top up on line page where one enters telephone number, Voucher PIN, and a Captcha code … Captcha kept returning "incorrect code" even after trying several refreshes.

I then signed in to the phone account (email address and password), and selected top up from drop down menu … this time the Voucher PIN was accepted and the amount of credit showed correctly, HOWEVER the cited confirmation TXT was/has not been received.

What is going on?

Tks.

@Rickles Did you call 777 and try via the IVR? If it was between the hours of midnight to 5am Vodafone could of had some planned work on

I take it you have tried topping up again this morning?

So the top-up has been applied to your prepay number then I don't know what the reason for this thread is then?

Patently because I'd like to know why the TXT didn't work, because I'd like to know why the web-page system didn't work, and because I'd like to know why a confirmation TXT was not received when payment accepted …. n'est pas?

You can see the top-up credit has been applied to your Prepay balance when you check online or via the My Vodafone App

Have you not got better things to worry about?

As the SMS failed to send to 887 and you did not get a SMS response back I suspect the VSMSC that is connected to the SMSR could of had an issue at the time of sending SMS to 887

(I am only guessing but this is what it looks like)

Very brief flow path for SMS topup to 887

Customer sends 12 digit code to 887 this is passed to the local severing cell over to the SMSR then SMSR routes the content to the VSMSC then this is passed this to the Prepay IN for checking of the 12 digit code is valid

Surepay responds Yes or No  and if Yes then the Prepay topup amount is applied to the Prepay account
