Yesterday I recieved an email from Vodafone with an attached invoice for $0.00. I left Vodafone well over a year ago and then suddenly they send me a bill for nothing. But wait there is more, if I don't pay said $0.00 by the 17 January 2019 I will be charged a late payment fee of $18.40 and no doubt my credit score will be affected.

Why do Telcos and in particular Vodafone have so much issue with billing is it really that hard?

@JasonParis

@MikeHales

I have no desire to wait an eternity on the phone trying to get this sorted could either of you get this looked at I will PM my OLD account details when one of you replies.

Thanks in advance

I have a similar issue although its now being on-going for 7 years or so. When I moved on to a company plan my personal account was 0.03 in credit. I was getting a monthly email to advise me of this, until ~2-3 years ago, suddenly my 0.03 credit became -0.01. I'm not sure how my balance got reduced or why. I tried calling Vodafone a couple of times to sort it out and get my 3 cents back, but no one could figure it out.

I was in the same boat, it took 4-5 phone calls to finally get it sorted

Are they still charging inactive accounts that are in credit a "inactive account fee" still?

My old Vodafone account started showing up on my credit score as not paid. I closed this account in October last year and there is $0 owing on it. There are some broken processes here regarding closed accounts.

Cheers

Interesting, Had a look and yeah I can see my Vodafone transactions and the month I was late on etc.
Not a single bad thing there, not sure why its telling me about my star sign and males and then my post code but it did confirm that most people in devonport have a better credit score than me..

Something turned up in my letterbox in a Vodafone envelope late last year, addressed to someone that moved out about 10 years ago. I wonder whether it was a random $0 bill too!

the more you know: you can make up your own cheque without the need of a cheque book.

Bonus points if you write it out on a piece of 4x2.
