I have recently purchased an Archer C60. This is my first time trying to setup my own modem router on a Vodafone broadband account.

Previously I used a HG659 gateway to connect. I cannot see any VLAN ID setting specific to IPTV traffic. With my Archer C60, I have to set Internet to VLAN ID 10.

With this setting I can access the Internet for all my devices except for a lone IPTV device which I have. This device previously worked when I was using the HG659. The Archer C60 provides a setting for VLAN ID of IPTV traffic but this must not be the same as the VLAN ID I am using for Internet.

I have contacted Vodafone but all their technical support seems to have no clue what the VLAN ID setting is for IPTV traffic.

Has anyone successfully setup a different modem router with Vodafone Fibre before while having an IPTV device? If so, did you need to setup a VLAN ID for IPTV?

Vftv used to be igmp over the same vlan

Pretty sure about 6 months back they moved to pure over the top rather than ordering a special product from access providers (also allowing them to deliver it over copper)

What does this mean in terms of settings for my own router?

It means you plug it in and turn it off and on...

I am not using VFTV sorry. This is a different IPTV device. It can only connect when I am using the HG659 but using my Archer C60 I cannot connect as it seems I dont have the VLAN IDs setup correctly?

Edit: I have contacted Vodafone but it seems this setting is not visible even to their technical support

Would not surprise me if your unsupported device was latching igmp calls.

If you have an old original voda iptv box then it uses multicast from the standard vlan10 traffic, but you will need igmp proxy enabled.

If you are using a new voda iptv box, then it's just normal unicast from the default vlan10 Internet traffic.

I cannot open it even if I am using VF's own modem router. I have updated VLC and there is nothing playing (just the bar at the bottom of the app doing funny stuff).

Here are my modem router's settings. I had to Enable IPTV to get just Internet to work (after setting Internet to VLAN ID 10). I cannot set Internet and IPTV to the same VLAN. I have been told by Vodafone support that there is no special setting for this and it should be VLAN 10. Is it normal that a modem router does not support same VLAN IDs for Internet and IPTV? As I might just ask my brother to get a different one although don't want to buy one that may not work.

Also I tried a bunch of numbers already from 11-40 for the VLAN ID but no luck.

Yep that is exactly what I did. I will try to play around with some of the settings on my VF router as not sure what is not working now (my first guess was that I didn't have the VLAN ID for IPTV set on the custom router I bought but now it seems like there is more to it as even the VF router cannot play this).

The VLAN settings for IPTV and phone are not used in NZ and are meaningless on VF. Just because it says IPTV does not mean it has any effect on IPTV settings on VF.

These settings are for some providers in Asia in particular who deliver IPTV and phone services on their own VLAN using a QinQ type setup. This is NOT how VF (or UFB in NZ) works.

VF TV is either delivered over multicast which means IGMP proxy needs to be enabled, or over regular unicast for newer installs.

The 233 range IP is a multicast test feed. If you're on a newer VF TV connection that not use multicast it will not have multicast enabled so will not work.

The udp://@233.36.129.39:5793 always worked here
