Hi all,

by now many of you have seen Vodafone's new discussion forum (forum.vodafone.co.nz) if the registration forms are anything to go by.

It's a beta test for now - some things work, some work quite strangely and some don't work at all.

Feel free to check it out, kick the tyres and tell me what you think. Any/all bug reports gratefully received.

The idea is we'll have a place where we can tell you about network issues, about new offers/services and where customers can find answers to technical issues in a self service environment. You'll be able to subscribe to the RSS feed for network related issues, for example, so you can get the information as fast as we can pump it out - although I don't think that's switched on just yet...

User names are first come first served so you'll need to be in quickly to grab the ones you want.

Cheers

Paul

EDIT: took out incorrect URL.

Thanks for that. I visit and comment in lots of forums and don't plan to change that any time soon. I come here, I visit PressF1 on PC World, GP Forums even Gamers.net.nz... and Biggie and Trade Me's forums.

anywhere there's conversation basically.

And now forum.vodafone.co.nz as well.

Cheers

Paul

I do have some issues/questions/things:
  • Why do you use Vodafone UK's Forum CSS? While there are using the same platform, some of the CSS doesn't match up and get overridden. A bit strange going all the way to the UK to retrieve a stylesheet.
  • I can't seem to create new topics in the "Suggestions For the Forum" subforum (it's meant to be open... isn't it?)
  • There are some issues with the HTML editor and the sidebar (the one with emoticons) as it pushes the whole editor down unless the sidebar is hidden.
  • A link to search needs to put up - it's pretty important (but of course overloading could occur I guess)
Otherwise, it's great - Network Status is one I'll definitely be keeping an eye on.

In order:

  • Voda UK has some smarts we're using for spam management so we've just taken the whole thing.
  • Yeah, my fault. will change that.
  • Yes, yes there are. Beta test... on the list.
  • searching... hmmm. It'll never catch on.
Glad you like it - the ability to keep customers informed about things like network status is pretty important to me so that'll be a medium I can really get my teeth into.

It's a work in progress... we're adding users rapidly and it's only day one so that's a good sign.

Cheers

Paul

Registered..... lucky member #99!

Thought the announcements section would be more...... relevant forum announcements for Vodafone, rather than just another PR avenue though.

Edit: And this makes 3 forums I share now with Paul. :O

Hi paul, this is an excellent initiative.

At present though, the Forum excludes blind people using screen reading technology, because there is no audio version of the CAPTCHA during sign-up. When I've raised this with other providers of forums, it's been resolved quickly in most cases, so I hope this can be passed onto the correct people at Vodafone and taken care of.

Thanks,

Jonathan

What browser are you using? I haven't seen that on FF, IE6 or Safari... are you using something else?

A small and trivial point, perhaps you should point forums.vodafone.co.nz to the forum.vodafone.co.nz

I assume you have more than one forum, and it's the one I guessed first before having to look up this thread :-)

Without sounding like a prat, and trying to go too off-topic.
I think its funny how these ISP's and/or Telco's have these network status pages.
If you cant access the internet, how're you meant to see them :P had that problem 1 too many times.

But thats just me :P
