Hi all,

I've had a v3 Suresignal plugged into a Slingshot ADSL connection working happily at my home for the last 18 months or so. As of last Friday however it has stopped working and flashes a code (flashing red Power  + solid orange Service + solid orange Use) which translates to "Authentication via the security gateway has failed during the setup process"

I havent changed any settings on the modem or computer to cause this and when take the Suresignal around to test on other internet connections it works fine. I have tried factory resetting the Suresignal as well as my modem (Slingshot supplied N4FV) but to no avail.

Can any suggest what my issue might be or where the problem might lie? Both Vodafone and Slingshot have been helpful but basically suggest its probably each others fault.

Thanks very much,

Michael

Funny you should mention that... Mine died 2 or 3 months ago with similar on my 2D connection

Took it into work for some peers to test, and it was fine. Even our commercial w/sale link it managed to phone home

But take it back home, same as you

Only thing I have not done is put it on a hub *shudder* and wireshark'd it

Have you folks perhaps called Vodafone help desk and ask if it's registered, if it's connected to an unblocked IP address, etc?

You could of been allocated a new IP address that is not in the Sure Signal white list range!

So as above get your IP address and call VodafoneNZ (Good luck getting it escalated to the Core network team)

Just a follow up on this, Linux was dead on. Slingshot had assigned me a new IP that was in a range blocked by Vodafone.

The Vodafone help was excellent and got me going quickly once the problem was identified. Slingshot help was pretty poor.

Unfortunately I have received a new Dynamic IP from Slingshot which has once again cause the Suresignal to fail. I guess I will get a static IP from slingshot and then ask vodafone to whitelist it once and for all.

Thanks for everyones help!

Vodafone don't whitelist just a single IP address they should be doing it in ranges

Linux is correct - Vodafone exempt ranges now.

PM me your current public IP please.

Thanks - I'll look at it now.

It looks like a new range, so may need to be added to the exemption list.

I'm raising a request to get the range whitelisted.

I'm hopeful that this will be actioned next week - work load dependent.

Good morning

The IP range you mentioned has now been exempted.

It's most likely the unit has come up already, but if it hasn't please try a power cycle on the SureSignal. A slow white flashing icon after a restart will indicate the unit is synchronizing to the Femto cluster.

Hope it works for you now. If you have any issues PM me directly rather than cluttering up this thread. :)

Cheers.

Hi nzbsgfan,

Is this correct that the new IP has to be whitelisted by vodafone, we have changed to a different provider and the 9362 Enterprise Cell has stopped working.

Cheers

Mark

That's correct. You have to contact Vodafone to arrange this.
