Hi all

was recommended this plan at Xnet by another member - it seems like a very good deal seeing how you would pay double anywhere else!

My question to those that have used this service is whether it's reliable enuff for a small business

I plan to have 2 ph numbers

1 Line for VOICE+Broadband
1 Line for FAX+EFTPOS

I am worried about the down time as I have to get the existing number from Telecom switched over and whether it requires a lot of maintenance once it's set up to go?

Also what would the hardware I need for the setup I want?

Are you planning on running your fax and eftpos over VoIP or a PSTN line?

eh? sorry what's PSTN - i thought it was just a phone line ??? i didn;t know there was a difference between the 2?

PSTN is a standard telecom phone line that you normally pay ~$44/month for.....run your fax/eftpos through PSTN....it's a lot easier....

Do whatever you want to do man.

PSTN = regular phone line.

What "plan" are you talking about?

ahhh I c - was thinking with the Xnet fusion plan it's $69.95+$7.95
that gives me 2 "phone" lines and broadband at approx 5GB total costs comes to $85-$90
but am unsure whether the fusion "phone" would work the same as the PSTN lines????????

have asked support at Xnet they say yes but then u never know huh............................
but then have to get the hardware the VOIP router/IP PHONE they r not cheap......

With fusion plan, I think you get a VOIP line included....tbh get a PSTN line and run your fax and specially eftpos through that...problem with VOIP is in business that if your broadband connection goes out/down then your eftpos is stuffed as well....and you do not want disappointed customers....with PSTN....the only drawback is a power cut which you would have to suffer as well if you opt for VOIP....so safest bet for a business running eftpos machine is to go PSTN....

ahhhhhhhhh very good point but it seems like a bit of a hassle having 2 providers - having just 1 is bad enuff sometimes!

i might go with the status quo and see what my needs are after a few months and hopefully by then the Xnet fusion would be more stable

VFX (residential + small business) and DVX (business only) run off exactly the same platform, difference is local calls are charged on DVX plus you can have more than 2 lines and you can get DDIs. WxC dealer (aka partners) are able to do provision both, and are able to liaise with WorldxChange on your behalf (adding new DDIs, moving premises, adding more lines etc).

Xnet Fusion + DVX are a good mix, if you are worried about power cuts, just get a UPS, they aren't that expensive. We ran trials in a local retail store of EFTPOS over DVX and it worked flawlessly for the three months we had it running.

Not too sure in all honesty, the Linksys gear you require, we don't specialise in. I'm sure a WxC dealer who specialises in it will see this thread and respond.
