Alrighty!  We've got a new version of the Firefox Usage Monitor ready to roll, but in order to help us test it out (and give everyone here a sneak preview!), we're releasing an early version to Geekzone :D.  We're hopefully going to release this to everyone either early tomorrow or first thing Monday, depending on if anyone spots any bugs - we haven't found any yet in this version, so hopefully noone else does (that way I get to have a quiet afternoon ;)).

You can download the new monitor at http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/firefox/beta/xnetusage-1.3.5.xpi

In terms of new features, the new monitor adds:
1) The choice of viewing the standard breakdown or the detailed breakdown (displaying all Torrent information).  We leave this up to you to choose which breakdown you want to see; just hit up the config options.
2) A line displaying when the last usage data got processed.  One of the other engineers here has put some work into the traffic accounting system so hopefully we won't have issues where it gets half a day behind again, but if it does, you'll be able to see the time the last data was processed.
3) Behind the scenes, we've retooled it quite a bit to make it easier to reuse the code in other Javascript environments - I'll leave that up to users to guess where else we might use it ;).

Anyway, enjoy, and if anyone does spot any showstopping bugs please do give me a shout!

Just installed it on my work Mac (osx 10.4).  It looks fantastic!

I thought for a second that the math was a little out but I was using the wrong total.

Thanks for getting it sorted, I've been missing that progress bar.

Works great!!

Just one thing though. The Progress bar shows 100% and the xnet "X" is red even tough I am on the torrent plan with no data limits. Is this normal?

Good to hear it's all running OK :D!  I'm going to sneak in on Monday morning, rename this release 1.4.0 and push the update out, thanks for all your feedback :).

knightrider - yes, that's normal.  If I get a chance I might reexamine the way Unlimited caps get shown in the statusbar (they're always 100%, but I guess technically they should always be 0% ;)), but for now that's the way Unlimited caps are represented.

My work around for that is to login to my xnet account data management page, set a limit on the data amount to X gigs using the slider, update the plugin, reset my account to unlimited by clicking the unlimited without moving the slider and the plugin remembers the set limit (probably getting it from the slider amount, which retains the change of GBs on the page) and the plugin then keeps track of the percentage (turning orange then red as it goes). Currently my account shows as 71%, orange, yet I have the data cap reset to unlimited. I've always done it that way. :)

Hmm, that's a bit odd... I installed the new version, but I don't get the updated stats... looks like the old version to me!!

Uninstalled, reinstalled, checked version says 1.3.5... still the same...

In regards to the 'unlimited' problem... why not make the 'limit' user specified like the stand alone meter?  That method works well for me!

SamF: tick the 'detailed' option in the config.  We figure some people don't want/need the detailed breakdown, others might, so we've left the choice up to you :).

There is a facility for a 'data budget' to be set in the config too, so you should be able to set an artificlal cap :).

The data budget in the config is what makes it turn different colours...
We're on orange, Oh noes. ;)
