The Setup:
VFX Fusion / VoIP
Billion 7401 VGP
PAP2T

The problem:
VoIP services are working fine in all respects except for the alert tone when new voicemail is available - you know - the several short beeps prior to the dialtone when you pick up the receiver.

When the alert tone does play, we find we are receiving messages several days old, and there was no alert tone played on the date they were received, or subsequently.

Is this a simple setting I need to change, or something more?

What happens is a message is sent to your device that basically contains information that you a VM, this is a single one way message so if the device didn't get the message for any reason you will not get the alert ie stutter dial tone, it could be your router bocking the a single packet possibly, another way to keep current is have EMail notification as well either notifying you of a VM or even sending a copy of the VM

I've set up email forwarding and will use this to see if the problem persists after making a few changes to my firewall.

Will let you all know how it turns out (just in case you're interested!).

, it also gives valuable information and feedback about certain device combo's and routers, that way we see trends on certain routers, the biggest issue as I have highlighted before is the router and how it handles SIP, the newer ones are getting better at it but some do not handle it well, so this feedback is welcomed.

I havent tried it with the AG310 yet as I havent had any voicemail left since I got it but cant see any problems with it not working like this but one other thing I set up was to have email notifications sent to my Vodafone email address and then when an email is received it also alerts me by text on my cellphone that I have a new voice message as well
