Hi All
I just got swapped from VDSL to fibre and although I can access google, stuff.co.nz, geekzone.co.nz there is a lot of sites that I cannot connect to like nzheald.co.nz and trademe.
I'm trying to avoid sitting on hold for support and wondering if anyone has any ideas about what might be causing this.

I have my origional hg659? with latest firmware.
The internet_ethernet connection shows ipv6 connected and v4 connecting.

It seams maybe working only for ipv6 sites but I'm not sure.
The jssue occurs with my android phone, my pc in kubuntu 16.01 linux and windows 10.

The only setting different is i have ny router on a different ip than the default 192.168.1.1

no ipv4? now that's interesting..

i'd speak to Vodafone, likely they need to complete your provisioning.

@gaddman will likely be interested in looking at why v4 was not provisioned though.

Very interesting - you're connecting to Geekzone via IPv6.

You can still order Dominos Pizza also via IPv6. Stuff, Google, Facebook and even my blog are available over IPv6 also.

If you can, attempt a factory reset of your HG659 as this will force a reprovision from Vodafone.

Except if it's the vodafone side provisioning which is missing.. which i suspect it is.. Highly doubt their ACS is over v6 ;)

Reason being is, Vodafone has one of the most open authentication rules across all the providers..

I may be wrong, but don't you need the Ultra Hub router?

I've got full internet access using my Ultra Hub Plus supplied by Vodafone.

Like I mentioned, I may be wrong...

Nah, the HG659 works fine with fibre.

@neatstuff, I'd say welcome to the all-IPv6 future, but as you've discovered not everybody is there with you yet. Since we don't provision IPv4 and IPv6 separately, it's rather odd how you've ended up in this scenario. I presume you've rebooted your modem and all that jazz, so if you fancy PM'ing me your account number I'll take a gander.

I’ve had this before. It’s an issue with routing either by Vodafone or Chorus, symptoms are are very similar where you’ll be able to hit some IP addresses but not others (timeout/fail).

Hilarious when routing fails to Vodafones own DNS servers and then nothing works since you can’t resolve addresses (unless your device holds onto its cache). Using Google/Cloudflare/quad9 helps but again you can only route successfully to some things.

If someone here can help directly that’d be great. Support will be adamant that the router is failing and needs replacing, but it wont solve the issue (do test with another if you have on hand though).

My situation occurred directly after a Chorus outage in the area. Support didn’t believe me when i described the symptoms as above and I had to prove it with diagnostics before they escalated to someone who could work on it.

Thanks everyone.

I have worked with DSL equipment and IPv4 but not with IPv6 so time to update my skill set LOL.

Got out of data moving from a telecommunications job at ericsson to writing software for power electronics.

Being a software engineer I really detest the thought of being told that my router is faulty by first line support LOL.

It worked on VDSL so something when they changed it over to VDSL.

I have sent a PM to gaddman and will let you know how I get on.

Thanks

Ricky
